3 - CAPITAL 📉
Tennessee overpaid for Pollard and Ridley. Those two players alone cost way too much. The talent doesn’t reflect their contracts. They let Derrick Henry walk. This was a bone-headed move. They traded AJ Brown. Bad decision. So much talent has passed through…
Maybe you end up with damaged goods. Each sack he takes (that he doesn’t need to) is adding emotional damage that will hinder his instincts. He needs to trust his o line, trust his receivers. You erode the trust when he can’t do his job. Those bad habits are being evidenced…
Their biggest problems:
1 - team-building, strategy
2 - developing Cam Ward
3 - efficient capital allocation in free agency / acquisitions
Things they are doing well (enough):
1 - defense
2 - drafting good talent (to fit their perceived needs)
Cam Ward wasn’t the right QB for their scheme, so the natural thing to do would have been change the way the team plays. They didn’t do this at all. They plugged Cam into a system he was destined to fail at. It’s a painful process and maybe you end up with Bryce Harper or…
1 - TEAM BUILDING
They cheapened out on o line. Went for bargain deals. Somehow they lucked out, but this was a massive gamble. Protect your franchise QB. Otherwise you end up with RG3 / Andrew Luck / Joe Burrow.
They got good talent but it doesn’t fit the team style…
Going to throw a wrench in this.. I see a team that’s growing. There’s a lot of flaws in the team now but their schedule is also a crucible by fire. Same as the Dolphins. To throw Cam out and try again with a new QB wouldn’t fix their biggest problems.
(Not a Titans fan)
Titans are going to land the no. 1 pick and have to decide if they give up on their 2025 no. 1 overall pick QB or spend the no. 1 overall pick on Jeremiah Smith, making their 2026 no. 4 overall pick a second receiving option.
I’m convinced this year is an intentional tank for the Dolphins which is why we didn’t draft Caleb Downs or Ruben Bain. Those are the only logical takeaways I have. Anything else will have me wanting to jump into Biscayne Bay. #phinsup
