Violent rage is part of many yaoi fanfiction tropes. Not just in the Tumblr sense but also in many Japanese yaoi and BL stories... many of which don't always involve intimiate relations.

Yaoi writers use rage as a backdrop for deeper love and 'emotional' weight. It is the typical female-driven fantasy of a violent male, needing that emotional depth to explain the rage. In reality, men often wanna destroy shit because it's fun.

Oftentimes, these tropes also revolve around height differences, with one of them having an explosive, violent temper that gets moderated by the other partner.

They even have other frameworks in yaoi where the more violent and chaotic the character is, the more it must mean their inner emotional pain and devotion must be profound.

This kind of stuff even shows up in "straight men partners" within BL stories so that the authors can claim it's not really "gay".

So anyway... Insomniac's Wolverine is "gay coded" because it literally is...
