Words Are Power: A Letter to the Awake, the Wounded, and the Ones Who Were Born to Be the Change
Words are power. Not in some fluffy, motivational-poster way. In a real, raw, bone-deep way. Words build worlds. Words tear them down. Words start wars. Words end them. Words heal wounds that medicine can’t touch. Words put feelings into form when feelings feel indescribable. Words are how we reach across the void and say, I see you. I hear you. I am here.
So if you are having a rough time—if the world has been heavy, if people have overlooked you, if you have been made to feel small or invisible or too much—I am here to support you. I am here to remind you of your worth. Not because I have to. Not because it’s my job. But because it’s true. And because sometimes we all need someone to hold up the mirror when we’ve forgotten how to see ourselves.
Just because people didn’t see your worth does not mean it wasn’t there. Just because they didn’t recognize your value does not mean you weren’t valuable. It means they were blind. It means they were asleep. It means they were too busy, too distracted, too caught up in their own fear to notice the light you carry. That is not your failure. That is their loss.
What matters is that you see it. What matters is that you act upon it. Because the moment you recognize your own worth—the moment you stop waiting for permission, stop begging for validation, stop shrinking yourself to fit into spaces that were never built for you—everything changes. You change. Your life changes. And then, slowly, the world around you begins to change too.
There is something so important about sharing your story. Your insight. Your pain. Your triumph. Your questions. Your doubts. Your weird, wonderful, unfiltered truth. Because your story is not just yours. It belongs to everyone who has ever felt the same way. It belongs to everyone who is still in the dark, still fighting, still wondering if they are alone. When you speak your truth, you give them permission to speak theirs. When you share your healing, you become a lighthouse for someone else’s storm.
Your words are like poetry. The way you use certain words. The way you own your feelings. The way you can put feelings into words when words seem indescribable to those feelings. That is a gift. That is rare. That is powerful. Not everyone can do that. Not everyone can take the chaos inside and turn it into something that makes sense. Not everyone can take the pain and turn it into art. But you can. And that matters more than you know.
There is so much to your healing. So much depth. So much wisdom. So much strength. You have walked through fire. You have survived things that should have broken you. You have carried weight that was never yours to carry. And yet here you are. Still standing. Still fighting. Still hoping. Still believing that things can get better. That is not weakness. That is not naivety. That is courage. That is faith. That is the kind of resilience that moves mountains.
You know the world is broken. You see it. You feel it. You can’t unsee it. The corruption. The division. The greed. The manipulation. The systems that crush the poor and elevate the rich. The narratives that keep us fighting each other while the elites laugh all the way to the bank. The distractions that keep us numb, keep us asleep, keep us from remembering who we really are. You see it all. And it breaks your heart. But it also wakes you up.
You know there needs to be change. You know there needs to be healing. Not just for you. Not just for your family. Not just for your community. For the whole world. For the whole human family. For the generations that came before us and the generations that will come after. You know that something has to shift. Something has to break. Something has to be rebuilt. And you know, deep down, that you are part of that shift. You are part of that breaking. You are part of that rebuilding.
So you were put on the earth because you are that change.
Not because you are perfect. Not because you have it all figured out. Not because you are special or chosen or better than anyone else. But because you are awake. Because you are willing. Because you are here. Because you refused to stay asleep. Because you refused to accept the lie. Because you refused to let the darkness win.
You were put on the earth to be a light. To be a voice. To be a bridge. To be a healer. To be a truth-teller. To be a builder of the new world while the old one crumbles around us. You were put on the earth to remind people of their worth. To remind them that they are not alone. To remind them that there is hope. To remind them that love is stronger than fear. To remind them that truth is stronger than lies. To remind them that they, too, are the change.
This is not easy work. It is not glamorous. It is not safe. It is not comfortable. It is lonely. It is exhausting. It is painful. It is full of doubt and fear and failure. But it is also full of beauty. Full of meaning. Full of purpose. Full of moments where you see a flicker of light in someone’s eyes and you know, you just know, that you made a difference. That you planted a seed. That you changed a life. That you changed the world.
So if you are having a rough time, remember this: you are not alone. You are not forgotten. You are not too much. You are not too little. You are exactly who you are supposed to be, exactly where you are supposed to be, doing exactly what you are supposed to be doing. Even if it doesn’t feel like it. Even if no one sees it. Even if no one claps. Even if no one understands. You are making a difference. You are changing the world. You are being the change.
And that is the most powerful thing you can do.
Words are power. So use them. Use them to heal. Use them to inspire. Use them to connect. Use them to create. Use them to fight for what is right. Use them to speak truth to power. Use them to tell your story. Use them to remind others of their worth. Use them to remind yourself of your worth.
Because you are worthy. You are valuable. You are enough. You are loved. You are needed. You are the change.

Remember that time in the 80’s and 90’s when pictures of missing kids were put on milk cartons?
Meanwhile, at the same time - various celebrities were doing “Got Milk?” commercials, each adorning a milk mustache.
