Excise duties, taxes revised: Higher prices for vehicles, cigarettes and sugary drinks

Hey @anuradisanayake this is a corruption door you're opening (as you try to close others): Knowing public sector salaries you know that *no one* who just earns that salary can possibly afford a vehicle where you need a Rs. 22/16/12m *reduction* in taxes.
That means you're either encouraging them to earn more off the books or encouraging them sell the permit.
If the goal is to give retiring senior officials a bonus, then just do that without letting some rich guy get a benefit from it (too).
I wrote a blog in 2017 on how to create a sane taxation policy. See: https://t.co/rYKPiJqyKG.
Stewards rule that Verstappen must has an "obligation to accomplish some work of public interest" for this.
Verstappen apparently said that "the word used is ordinary in speech as he learned it, English not being his native language", but apologised #F1
F1 strategist @ruthbuscombe pointed out in the post race show that Russellโs on track win came about as a result of incredible tyre wear, his deg sitting at 0.05 per lap compared to 0.1 for his rivals.
Thereโs an accepted average in F1 that 10kg equals approx 0.3 of lap time. That means the 1.5kg that Russell was under weight would represent 0.045, almost exactly his positive delta.
This may only be a coincidence as non drs fuel usage, 34 lap wear and no post race pickup all likely mitigating factors in his being underweight.
But interesting nevertheless I thought.
We are proud to announce the opening of a new facility at Silverstone Park, UK.
This new 48,000 square foot building is an important milestone for Andretti Global, as we embark on the next stage of our preparations to enter the FIA Formula One World Championship
Imagine putting the 17-year-old talent Andrea Kimi Antonelli in the current Alpine or Sauber car and expecting him to score points for the team
Sounds unrealistic, doesn't it?
Well, that's exactly what happened to Max Verstappen in 2015. He debuted as the youngest ever driver in Formula 1, with just 1 year of single-seater experience, driving for the Toro Rosso team. Max had just turned 17
Back then, Max achieved:
- 13 top-10 finishes
- including two P4 finishes
In a car comparable to the current Alpine or Sauber, but also unreliable at times.
For these outstanding performances, Max was also recognized by the FIA as Rookie of the Year and for the Action of the Year ๐ฆ
