Fabio Ochoa Restrepo. “Don Fabio.”
Medellín, Colombia, 1988.
The true King of Cocaine in Colombia.
Don Fabio’s sons are the Ochoa brothers, one of them is also named Fabio.
Known as Don Fabio, Fabio owned ranches all through Medellín, as well as horses. Fabio built his wealth legitimately in the beginning, but the cocaine business propelled him to bigger heights. Fabio also owned a restaurant which remained in the family, before divulging into Cocaine in the 70’s.
The Ochoa family became one of the most powerful within the Medellín Cartel, and Don Fabio became the most feared man in Colombia.
One day when getting interviewed in 1988 by an American journalist, Fabio had an interpreter with him. The interpreter was doing a subpar job and Fabio got upset, which led the interpreter to become so scared that they had to pause the interview because he was afraid to speak again.
There was a time when Fabio and the Pope were standing next to each other in public conversing, the people in the crowd asked who was the man in white standing next to Fabio Ochoa.
Don Fabio’s net worth was in the billions, so much that it hasn’t been properly accounted for; and he never did a day in prison. Fabio died a peaceful death in Medellín back in 2002.
