Excellent coverage of the #DerelictIreland issue in Saturday's @IrishTimes. An editorial piece to go alongside a hard hitting @davidmcw swipe at the real vandals, (thanks for the #Drogheda shout out), plus a slap for @CIF_Ireland from Mark O'Connell.
Vacancy & dereliction of historic buildings in Drogheda, Louth continues to form huge problem. Tall Georgian bdg on steep Duke St. Former school. Vacant many years. Advancing dereliction. Derelict Sites action by CoCo required. Potential for Repair & Lease scheme #DerelictIreland

We took the train to Drogheda on our hunt for #IrishCarnegies #1 on a beautiful sunny morning. There are 66 across the island of Ireland endowed by #AndrewCarnegie in the early 1900s.
What an amazing coincidence. Weeks after a dereliction notice is placed on the Abbey Centre you'll never guess what happened.
It only went on fire.
A #DerelictIreland fire. A common occurrence.
“Closed for essential repairs” This is what you might call an understatement! This is part of the facade of the once famous McPhails pub in Drogheda. Dereliction is an acceptable aspect of Ireland today. There should be consequences. @davidmcw
