Happy International Day of Women and Girls in Science! Inspire girls to think bigger. The Anatomy Alphabet book could be a great start. Check it! https://t.co/QUW2s1TRcU
Hope more labs will follow! During the racism and injustice meetings at @BruceVerchere lab I identified areas where I need improvement. We are all surrounded by biases and we have them ourselves. It is extremely important to recognize it and act upon it.
Recognizing the need to learn and raise awareness of racism and injustice in our society and in academia, we (@bverchere lab at @UBC) started having monthly discussion on various topics of inequity since the summer of 2020.
I’m not sure how I feel about #internationaldayofwomenansgirlsinscience this year. The fact that you can go from prize winning scientist to losing your job in 12 months because you were furloughed for childcare and couldn’t apply for grants suggests we need more than just a day.
Please RT. My lab has space and resources for a few new senior members, post-doctoral fellows and/or research associates. We strive for an inclusive and fun environment, and to conduct mechanistic research with real impact. More info @ Google or ORCID https://t.co/MXtDBwHtYd
