I started trading at the beginning of 2018, and as I move into my ninth year in the markets, my perspective has completely changed. What I once thought was about money, wins, and freedom has revealed itself to be something much deeper. Trading strips you down. It exposes your impatience, your ego, your fear, and your lack of discipline faster than almost anything else. But if you stay long enough, if youโre willing to take the lessons instead of running from them, it shapes you. It forces responsibility. It demands emotional control. It rewards consistency over intensity. And over time, you realise this isnโt just a way to make a living, itโs a craft that builds mental strength and resilience you carry into every area of life.
The longer I do this, the clearer it becomes that less is more. Fewer trades. Fewer opinions. Less noise. The less I trade, the better I perform, and the happier I am. My why has evolved too. This is no longer about proving something to the world. Itโs about freedom with purpose, presence with my family, and building something sustainable for the future. Trading done properly gives you time, clarity, and perspective, but only if you respect it. Find your why, anchor yourself to it, and let the process shape you. If you do that, longevity takes care of itself.
