We know how much it matters to live in a country where our rights are protected, where the law applies equally to everyone, and where the majority can’t just decide that some people don’t deserve the same freedoms. The safety and freedom we’ve found in America didn’t happen by accident. They exist because of democracy. And protecting democracy means protecting Jewish safety, too.
We know what happens when those protections start to break down. When courts are weakened, elections are undermined, and people lose equal protection under the law, minorities are often the first to pay the price. Jews have seen this throughout our history. It’s one of the reasons so many of our families sought refuge in democratic countries.
That’s why I find it so alarming to see what’s happening right now. When masked government agents are taking people off the streets and citizens are being shot in public, we should all be worried about where things are headed. As Jews, we know that when a government starts targeting certain groups of people, no one should assume they’re safe from what comes next.
Mike Rogers has chosen to align himself with a movement that is willing to attack our democracy. He stood with Trump and refused to accept the results of the 2020 election. And now we’re seeing what happens when a political movement treats the rights and dignity of certain people as disposable. For Jews, these things should set off alarm bells.
Jewish safety is tied to the health of our democracy. We can’t protect one without protecting the other. And in this Senate race, Abdul is the candidate who understands that and is willing to fight for it.

If it wasn't for a father carrying a pistol, this would have been a deadlier shooting. Of course, unmentioned, is the shooter was using a shotgun which is usually not the focus of gun control laws. Vote this hack out.
I am heartbroken by the news of another devastating school shooting, this time in Oregon. We can't keep living like this and children can't keep dying like this. Congress must take action to end gun violence now.
Just got back from Dublin. Was there 13 years ago and everything everyone was saying about how it had changed is true. The Irish people are now the minority in the city. 13 years go, felt like I could walk anywhere. Today, my head was on a swivel.
Took a taxi to the airport. The two people I have spoken to in departures (assuming supervisors) have been extremely helpful. I should have my luggage momentarily.
Amazing. @AerLingus lost my bags on Saturday at EDI. Rerouted them via BA over LHR to DUB yesterday. Arrived at noon. Did not deliver them yesterday and are now saying they cannot be delivered until after 10:30 today. Shambolic.
@CarnoustieCad I played Carnoustie yesterday. What a course! And it kicked my ass with the wind. I asked about you but you were already out. Alf was my caddie and he was great! Keep on keeping on!
@AerLingus I was on an Emerald Air flight from EDI to DUB. My luggage and my golf bag did not make the flight. Playing Portmarnock tomorrow without clubs, clothes or shoes. There were 3 other flights after 3555 and apparently they are being rerouted thru LHR tomorrow. I cannot express how disappointed I am. Those bags should have been expediated.
The late Suzanne Magaziner's farm fed low income Rhode Islanders for decades
The farm delivered thousands of pounds of fresh produce annually for two decades to help the food insecure.

Ryan Reynolds says ’80s nostalgia “paves over all the trauma” of the “tumultuous” decade:
“The 80s was a brutal, brutal time for people. It was a fucking mess and people forget that. It was a tremendous strife. Socio political tensions everywhere. We were still pretty fresh off a Cuban missile crisis, which was only 15-20 years before. It’s a tumultuous period, but you look back at it now and you’re like, ‘Oh, yeah. ‘Top Gun.’ Cocaine!’ Like, ‘No!’ It was really scary.”
In Apple TV’s “Mayday,” Reynolds stars as a U.S. Navy pilot who builds an unlikely friendship with an eccentric ex-KGB agent (Kenneth Branagh) obsessed with ’80s American culture.

Islamic terrorists hijacked an airliner loaded with tens of thousands of gallons of jet fuel and flew it directly into this man’s office building.
Mamdani speaks of the Americans inside as though they simply “died,” then redirects his condemnation toward the American military for what followed.
The impact ripped through the building and ignited an enormous inferno. Jet fuel poured through the structure. Temperatures became unsurvivable. Smoke filled stairwells and offices. Men and women were trapped dozens of floors above the ground with fire advancing behind them and no possible way down.
Some climbed onto shattered windows hundreds of feet above Manhattan.
Some held hands.
Some jumped.
Think about what it takes for a human being to look down from nearly 100 stories and conclude that hitting the pavement at terminal velocity is preferable to what is happening behind them.
They did not choose death because they wanted to die. They chose one form of death because Islamic terrorists had left them facing another… suffocation, incineration, or being crushed beneath a collapsing skyscraper.
Nearly 3,000 people were murdered that morning.
They did not simply “die.”
They were slaughtered by Islamic terrorists.
And when someone recounts September 11 by softening the murder of Americans into passive tragedy, only to recover his moral outrage when discussing America’s response, he reveals where his sympathy and anger actually reside.
September 11 was the deliberate mass murder of Americans, in their offices, aboard their airplanes, and on American soil, by Islamic terrorists.
I’ll simplify this. Socialism and communism go against human nature and is nothing more than a Trojan Horse to shift power to a bunch of naer do wells who will attempt to implement an oppressive, totalitarian government.
John Paul II, in Centesimus Annus 13: "...the fundamental error of socialism is anthropological in nature. Socialism considers the individual person simply as an element, a molecule within the social organism, so that the good of the individual is completely subordinated to the functioning of the socio-economic mechanism. Socialism likewise maintains that the good of the individual can be realized without reference to his free choice, to the unique and exclusive responsibility which he exercises in the face of good or evil. Man is thus reduced to a series of social relationships, and the concept of the person as the autonomous subject of moral decision disappears, the very subject whose decisions build the social order. From this mistaken conception of the person there arise both a distortion of law, which defines the sphere of the exercise of freedom, and an opposition to private property. A person who is deprived of something he can call "his own", and of the possibility of earning a living through his own initiative, comes to depend on the social machine and on those who control it. This makes it much more difficult for him to recognize his dignity as a person, and hinders progress towards the building up of an authentic human community."
By the way, it’s not the Superman Building. Glad to see @wpri12 is in on the coordination to foster some sort of nostalgia for an outdated building that should be demolished.
Owners of the long-vacant Superman Building in Providence are seeking additional taxpayer money to convert the skyscraper into housing, after revealing project costs have ballooned nearly 50% to at least $325 million. https://t.co/6jUpF5qSUq
This should be chilling to everyone. They will absolutely harass people and/or businesses working with ICE. Keep electing socialists and communists and this is what you will get.
Boston Mayor Michelle Wu filed a FOIA request to learn what private citizens or businesses are considering leasing space to ICE.
The city government plans on harassing these private property owners, bullying them to keep them from exercising their rights as citizens.
She is literally doxing her own citizens, for the purpose of government intimidation.
This is communism, my friends.
Paul, I know you have a ton of replies, but I went through the same thing with my mother 3 years ago. Aggressive glioblastoma, surgery, skilled nursing that took away any last shred of dignity. I wish someone in thay hospital had the courage to tell her surgery would not make a difference.
I’m very sorry for your loss.
