@AllEarsNet Finished on April 5, 2021, after two COVID lockdown pauses, a funeral, thunderstorms, and everything but a plague of frogs. :-D Won't set any speed records but I get points for diligence. #KeepGoing
@billy69498363 @StreamingMagic At that time it was Disney policy to require them. I'd hate to run from one park to the other just to get kicked out for not following the rules. ;-)
@lady_manor@StreamingMagic Love that ride! I went on It's a Small World, had a Mickey Ice Cream Bar, and then I had to get in another 15 miles to Kissimmee. But was magical!
@kevin_lisowe@StreamingMagic I'm not sure. Five years ago I was still training for Ironmans so I don't think so. But it did take about a year to research the route. Tell me about this other guy who set out to do it? I am not aware of any such effort. There was a guy in 2010 who planned to do it virtually....
@KingdomPlanners P.S. I hope you got the chance to do the virtual run. I had a blast doing it IRL. :-) If you get a chance, reach out to me and I'll share my route.
@KingdomPlanners How for do you plan to run each day? Even if virtual, I'd recommend taking a rest day every 10 days to give your body a chance to heal. Distance between the parks is 2761 miles by the shortest route, so that's around 100 days total. Go for it! I will be rooting for you!
@PlanoMagazine Hey @PlanoMagazine ... finished the run after two COVID pauses, a funeral, and thunderstorms--finally! on April 5, 2021, around noon (finished at Atlantic coast April 7th 2021, 3:57 PM). Thank you for profiling the run! I thought you'd like to know the story's ending. :-)
@zgore987 @DisneyParks Yes I was. You can see it in the picture. They did a temp check at the gate and the whole usual drill. Normally I don't run with it on unless there's a sandstorm (West Texas, I'm looking at you), but for the time in the park I definitely did.
@DisneyParks Thanks @DisneyParks. Your whole team including Melissa V, Ash, Marisol, Ian(?) and countless others including the security guard with a family story involving #type1diabetes made it a magical and memorable day. Still can't believe it actually happened. <3 ยฐOยฐ
@DisneyNut1985 Hey all, thanks for the kind words. Just to clarify, it was 88 days of running. I did take a rest day about every 10 days, 2 days for bad weather, a week for my father's funeral, and we were forced to pause twice due to covid lockdowns. But @DisneyNut1985, thanks for sharing!
@achavez48 Well, since he resigned, ima suggest Brenda Hammond for mayor. She runs the diner in town and knows a little something about keeping paying customers happy.
