MIAA administrators and communicators were in Las Vegas earlier this week for the 2026 @NACDA and @CollSportsComm conventions.
Two MIAA representatives received on-stage recognitions as Arkansas-Fort Smith Assistant Vice Chancellor for Athletics, Recreation and Wellness, Curtis Janz, received his 2025-26 Athletics Director of the Year Award from NACDA, and Emporia State Associate Athletic Director for Media Relations, Don Weast, received his 25-Year Award from the CSC.
Congratulations, Curtis and Don! Thank you for your continued support and dedication to the MIAA and NCAA Division II athletics!

Leaving the stadium at 10:58 pm on Saturday, May 23 after the NCAA Track & Field Championships to close out the 2025-26 athletics school year at @ESUSports
Next up is Kansas Shrine Bowl at Welch Stadium.
@ESUSports I walked into the greatest venue in DII. I hear Eldridge, see Coach Slay smiling, Uphoff just got 19th, Frierson and McCallop have 45, Church to Cookson, Bloss with the drive, Emili Studer just checked in and the women are headed to the elite 8! 90s style!
This past Friday, Emporia State Women’s Basketball had a great time helping with Special Athletics Track & Field Day! From cheering on participants to helping run events, it was an incredible day filled with energy, smiles, and inspiration.
We’re grateful to be a part of such a special event and proud to support these amazing athletes. 💪

@Mighty_Minnow@ESUBaseball@LRbears You can still “regionalize” the bracket while selecting on a national basis. It will take a little more work than simply slotting teams in predetermined regions but it could be done. Several people have shown how it could actually cut down flights in football.
Something has to change with NCAA D2 regionalization. @ESUBaseball goes 37-16, was ranked 26 in NET, 35 in KPI; @LRbears is 37-13-1, 17 in NET, 24 out n KPI…neither make NCAA tourney. Two teams are over 110 in both NET and KPI & made tourney as at large teams.
@WayneCavadi_D2@ESUBaseball@LRbears My main complaint isn’t necessarily who got in over who in the region. It’s with the regional model overall.
In an ideal world ESU, LR, USC-Aiken, Nova, & Eckerd (all in top 37 of NET&KPI) would be in while the seven at large teams ranked outside the top 56 would not.
@Mighty_Minnow@ESUBaseball@LRbears My complaint is not how teams are selected for the regional, but the regional system itself. It restricts access to top 50 teams based on what region they are in, while rewarding teams that are not in the top 100 in the metrics.
Now that the NCAA is going to 76 teams for the D1 tourneys .. let’s use the extra cash I’m sure its going to get to dump regionalization at the D2 level #Please
How big is the NFL? There is a tornado warning in the county directly south of this TV station but they are showing the NFL Draft anyway. (In their defense they are showing weather coverage on a sister station)
Weather is holding out so far and there have been some outstanding marks (some ranked in the top 20 of the nation this season) already at the @ESUHornetsTFXC#ESURelays high school edition. And a great crowd watching.
