One of the recurring problems across psychology, systems work, and organisational practice is this: We either speak about coherence too loosely, or we reduce it to something it isn’t.

This paper takes a different position.
It argues that coherence cannot be captured by a single metric, but can be observed through patterns across multiple domains — and only understood properly when we distinguish between indicators, proxies, interpretations, and claims.

It also explores how measurement itself can distort human systems when used without care.

This is part of a longer-planned sequence of papers and books, including:
• Field-Based Psychology
• Psycho-Thermodynamics
• The Coherence Cycle

Each piece builds on the last — moving from registers, to state, to process, and now to measurement.

I've been quite the quiet one over the last few years, and the time has been dedicated to the large part in studying, practicing, and releasing books and papers around Field based Psychology,

Over the coming months, I’ll be releasing a series of books and accompanying papers that have been in development for a long time.

This is not a sudden project or a shift in direction. It is the result of years of thinking, writing, testing, refining, and, at times, putting work aside until it was ready to be seen clearly. The aim has been consistent throughout: To develop a coherent, non-reductive framework for understanding human systems — across personal, relational, organisational, and wider societal contexts. Some of the recent papers give a glimpse of this direction: •

Measurement Without Reductionism

Each piece is part of a larger structure, not standalone ideas. They move from how we inquire, to how systems hold load, to how they change over time, and now to how they can be observed without distortion.

The books will take this further — expanding the ideas, grounding them in practice, and making them more directly usable. There is no rush in this work. It has taken time to reach a point where the structure holds together, and it will continue to evolve as it meets real-world application. \
