Author of the Fifth Circle , a science fantasy series with dragons, military SF, high politics, and a lot of IPAs. My characters swear a lot and damn the gods.
"A dragon?!"
"You can semble into your draconian form as reflected by the quantum field from any of several infinite draconian selves in the Multiverse."
"How 'bout them apples?"
"Dragons eat large quadrupeds."
"Ugh"
"That's why we are in our human form almost all the time."
@AriMeghlen @RPoli3 The opening to Mark Isham's gorgeous OST of A River Runs Theough It. It's my MC's theme.

@RPoli3
@AriMeghlen @RPoli3 Well, my genre is rather genre-bending--Fantasy and Science Faction together, like dragons and space ships--so the music is rather eclectic as well. Just the way I like it.

@byMorganWright It does exist.The debate is how to get around it. Writer's block simply means you've hit a wall and can't see your way forward in meaningful service to the story. Inexperienced writers only know a few ways around & can exhaust those quickly. More ways come with experience.
@nights_la My heart goes out to the women on Twitter that get hit on by an ultimately small and embarrassing percentage of my gender. I try and treat everyone-regardless of gender or orientation-the same: We are here to learn about and share what snall wisdom we can about writing. Period.
@NicoleRScarano Male writing male MC who is surrounded by strong, self assured women-somerimes I think I overload in that direction, but they are mostly kick ass, diverse, and fun to write. In my universe, ability, rank, and respect (or betrayal) is completely gender neutral. Too much shit to do
@DiedraDrake To me, it's important to read my genre (SFF) to keep up with authors, trends, what's selling, discovering 1st-time authors to analyze
why an agent/publisher bought it. At the same time, I read unrelated fiction (i.e., Count of Monte Cristo) & modern & historical non-fiction.
@AriMeghlen @RPoli3 Finally-a rollicking space opera caper about a transplanted Earthan who more than holds his own against alien shennanigans as a reluctant soldier of fortune on the rim of the galaxy. Funny, humane, and tragic, it is the antidote to more deathly serious fare. #TheMerryWriter
@AdaraWrites In a way, that's the equivalent of killing your darlings. To wit: I know several writers who are on the i experienced side and the thought of tossing or massively reworking hard work to date is anathema. It's a big-but necessary-hurdle to get over. Then its happy happy joy joy 😥
@WritingZebra I am so sorry and, sad to say, I now know how you feel. Just discovered I have a chronic liver disease about 6 weeks ago and life will never be the same.
