Washington Democrats love to blame Trump. They love to blame MAGA. But they've controlled Washington State for years — and every single tax increase was their doing.
Here's what they signed into law. Look them up yourself.

🚨 GAS TAX
SB 5801 — Raised the gas tax +6 cents per gallon (July 2025). First increase in 9 years. Now 55.4¢/gallon — 3rd highest in the nation. Indexed to inflation, goes up automatically every year.

🚨 CARBON TAX
SB 5126 — The Climate Commitment Act. Adds ~46 cents or more per gallon on top of gas taxes. Washington set an all-time diesel price record in 2026 — $6.53/gallon vs. $5.95 in Oregon. Democrats fought to keep it when voters tried to repeal it in 2024.

🚨 INCOME TAX
SB 6346 — Signed March 30, 2026. Washington's first income tax since 1932. 9.9% on households earning $1 million or more. Raises $3 billion a year.

🚨 CAPITAL GAINS + ESTATE TAX
SB 5813 — Made the capital gains tax more progressive and increased estate tax rates. More money out of families and small businesses when they sell assets or pass wealth to their children.

🚨 BUSINESS TAXES
HB 2081 — Raised B&O surcharges and rates on large corporations.
HB 2020 — Increased B&O tax rate on payment processors.
HB 2077 — Created a brand new tax on carbon credit business activities.

🚨 PAYROLL TAXES — COMING OUT OF YOUR PAYCHECK
HB 1570 — Created a new social insurance payroll tax on rideshare/gig workers (Uber, Lyft, DoorDash).
SB 5291 — Long Term Care Act (WA Cares) — Mandatory payroll deduction on every Washington worker. Expanded by Democrats to now follow workers even after they leave the state.
Paid Family & Medical Leave — Democrat-created mandatory payroll premium. Has increased 53% in two years:
→ 2024: 0.74% of your wages
→ 2025: 0.92% of your wages
→ 2026: 1.13% of your wages
Every dollar — taken before you ever see your paycheck.

🚨 FEES & LICENSES
HB 1972 — Raised physician health program licensure fees.
HB 1756 — Clean energy tax changes explicitly increasing revenue to governments and schools.
HB 1552 — Extended and maintained real estate broker license fees.
Every single one — Democrat-sponsored.

Republicans sponsored ZERO tax increases. Zero.

Your gas costs more. Your groceries cost more. Your paycheck is smaller. Your home costs more to sell. And when you die, your kids pay more too.

Democrats did this. They passed it. They signed it. They own it.

And now they have the nerve to look you in the eye and say it's Republicans' fault.

Washington State Democrats lied. Their new income tax on millionaires isn’t just for people making over $1 per year

“It’s not just the millionaires who are gonna face this tax. In fact, couples whose combined income is a million dollars or more will also be taxed. Tax experts call it the marriage penalty.

So if you have two individuals who each make $600,000, neither would pay the state income tax if they filed as individuals, but if they are married and they file jointly, they would owe a tax of about $20,000”

And so it begins… next they’ll start lowering the threshold and it’ll soon apply to everyone
