Please post a table showing home ownership, poverty, unemployment, and imprisonment rate for Norwegian-Americans.
H/T to Milton Friedman for his response when given such statistics for Sweden.
I just spent ten days in Norway and left literally yesterday.
It's a beautiful country but is nevertheless full of the European acceptance of diminished living standards and a sense of cultural despair and cultural suicide.
Nevertheless, some of the economic features mentioned below are correct.
Not because of socialism, but because of two reasons: (i) they are drilling the Hell out of North Sea oil and selling it to the rest of Europe while the UK is busy divesting itself of the same due to "net zero" and (ii) their national population is less than 50% of the Los Angeles metro area.
Norway is simply taking advantage of the green scam while pretending to support it.
In other words, their prosperity is a function of capitalism.
Explained.
Justice Barrett:
Voted to get rid of Roe v. Wade.
Voted to get rid of Chevron.
Gave President Trump immunity from prosecution.
Blocked states from removing President Trump from the ballot.
Ended affirmative action.
Ended temporary protected status for Haitians and Syrians.
Allowed states to prohibit transitioning for minors
Empowered the President to fire appointed commissioners of independent agencies.
Ended the Lemon rule and expanded religious liberty.
Expanded gun rights.
Ended majority-minority districts.
Gave Congress the power to end mail-in balloting.
"Terrible pick."
good point. I am disappointed in the Birthright decision but for the most part they got more things right than wrong and what they got wrong can be corrected by people through legislation or consitutional amendment/
I don't know if politics have ever been worse in my lifetime -- or if the Supreme Court, or at least the 6 right of center members, has been any better.
The one major decision that I now think they might have gotten wrong in recent years is the presidential immunity decision, largely for the reasons in Justice Barrett's brilliant concurring opinion in that case.
It is also very revealing how many people who think of themselves as "conservatives" view SCOTUS exactly the same way as progressive leftists do -- as a super legislature of philosopher kings to impose their particular policy preferences on the rest of us. That's not the job. The job is to interpret and apply the law, with the US Constitution being the supreme law of the land -- even when it sometimes means that the result of the case doesn't go your preferred way.
@RoslynAlisha77 well if you want to keep people from using AC, that is government failure. It is not it is a secret that AC keeps you cool in the summer.
Hello Mr. Kristol,
The verse you cite is from Leviticus, right alongside the passages on same-sex relations that you so readily dismiss.
But setting that aside, you're misreading the historical context. Leviticus 19:33–34 was written for Israel while the Hebrews were in the wilderness after the Exodus. There was no modern nation-state with fixed borders or an immigration system. Israel was a covenant community, not a country defined by territorial boundaries.
A "sojourner" wasn't simply someone standing inside an invisible border. A sojourner was a foreigner living among Israel who accepted Israel's civil order and lived under its laws. That's why the same Torah you hijack says there should be "one law for the native and for the sojourner." The defining feature wasn't physical location... it was membership in, and submission to, the covenant community.
Using Leviticus 19:33–34 as an argument against modern immigration enforcement ignores the historical and legal context in which the passage was written.
Finally someone said it - because of American overconsumption, their CO₂ emissions are crazy high, and Europeans suffer
America must pay a mandatory tax to the EU to offset this
Elon Musk must be forced to hand over his $1 trillion.
It should be given to policitans to redistribute. They are the only ones who can be trusted to spend it wisely.
Spread the wealth ✊
