What kills me is Urashiman isn't available on DVD/Bluray.

Stand on its own. How? It does have an end of the world by an outside human existence (aliens instead of angels). I should have caught onto the Frankenstein elements. I saw this more as the main character was rebelling against the gov to fight off the threat. Pre Code Geass x Eva
