When the weather is fine, why not enjoy a picnic (though probably a less finely-attired one!)...
Travel back 116 years to a resplendant picnic at Yalta on the Crimean Peninsula. I have cleaned-up this 1910 autochrome by Peter Ivanovich Vedenisov. The people in the picture are recorded as Tania, Natasha, Kolia & Liza Kozakov, with Vera Vedenisov & Elena Bazilev. It is an early colour glass plate process and not colourised.
Caught this moment today of a Baptist church sending a large bouquet to the Islamic mosque in San Diego that was ambushed in a shooting that's being investigated as a hate crime.
Remember on Memorial Day. Men and women have paid an incredible price for our freedom.
Freedom isn't free. The freedom we enjoy was bought and paid for by real people with real families. We remember them today.
Today I have cleaned up a rather beautiful autochrome study of a windmill at sunset - taken in colour about 116 years ago - by the Belgian painter and photographer Alfonse Van Besten (1865–1926). It is an early colour glass-plate process and not colourised.
“If the glories of Heaven were more real to us, if we lived less for the material things and more for things eternal and spiritual, we would be less easily disturbed by this present life.” —Billy Graham
I started a new job which has shifted my writing patterns. But today, I’m happily typing away from the corner study room at my local library. It feels good to be back at it!
Today is an awfully sad day. I lost one of my best friend .she was the strongest person I know and wanted to spread awareness about breast cancer. remember her fight. She was the most positiv person I know. She always said dont be afraid about aging, aging means being alive.
Charges now filed against a man for trying to get into an east side cleveland church Sunday and throwing a man down the steps—victim was a deacon trying to “protect the frightened church attendees”
Today I take you back nearly 120 years to the Californian coastline: I have cleaned-up this study of the American actress and writer Helen MacGowan Cooke, photographed by Arnold Genthe at the beach in Carmel, California, sometime between 1906 and 1910. It is original colour, not colourised.
