In September 2024 she attended the Eurasian Women’s Forum and accompanying BRICS Women’s Meeting in St. Petersburg (theme: “Women Strengthening Trust and Cooperation”), representing VOW and speaking on making the Arctic a zone of peace. She later published a 2025 briefing note on the event.

In interviews and writings she has argued Canada should "cooperate with China and Russia on climate action and peace rather than align with NATO militarization."

As if that alone isn't alarming in itself....

CCBC has run multiple Indigenous-focused business missions to China (most recently 2024) and published reports highlighting opportunities in resources and land under increased Indigenous control.

A September 3, 2026 Vancouver economic roundtable, held with Chinese embassy guidance and attended by First Nations Finance Authority leadership, discussed Indigenous finance, community development, and green-transition cooperation, Chinese Ambassador Wang Di’s remarks called for stronger ties between Chinese businesses/financial institutions and First Nations communities as part of the broader Canada-China “strategic partnership.”

These are general outreach efforts rather than band-specific deals but malice in intent on China's behalf all the same.

Chinese diplomats have engaged First Nations representatives in recent years. Ambassador Wang Di (or embassy officials speaking on his behalf) addressed attendees including First Nations Finance Authority CEO Ernie Daniels at the September 3, 2026 Vancouver event to promote investment and economic links.

In November 2025 Wang Di met Manitoba First Nations Grand Chief Walter Wastesicoot during a provincial visit focused on housing, infrastructure, and community development.

A May 2025 meeting with B.C. First Nations leadership is also referenced in embassy materials.

The stated "purpose" across these contacts is expanding trade, investment in resources and green projects, and “community development” amid Canada’s land-claim and major-projects debates.

Canadian intelligence assessments have separately flagged Indigenous communities as targets of foreign-influence activity.

It is her direct connection to the #BRICSlegion that has the OSINT communities as well as local authorities I'm sure uneasy.
