A few spiritual reminders. Take what speaks to your soul and always use wisdom.
1.) Sometimes you are your own delay.
Not everything is "God's timing" or "the ancestors are delaying me." Sometimes the delay is called procrastination, fear, laziness, lack of discipline, or refusing to move when opportunities present themselves. Pray, yes but also wake up, work hard, and be consistent. Even blessings need someone who is prepared to receive them.
2.) Stop announcing every prayer.
Not every prayer belongs in public. Learn to protect your conversations with God and your ancestors. A seed grows underground before anyone sees the tree. Some victories are stronger when they are watered in silence.
3.) Be careful who you ask to pray for you.
Prayer is powerful, but be discerning. Not everyone who smiles at you genuinely wishes you well. Share your deepest battles with people whose hearts, intentions, and spirits you trust. Sometimes your own sincere prayer carries more power than a thousand empty words from someone with a divided heart.
4.) If you feel called to cleanse yourself spiritually, don't ignore it.
In many traditions, spiritual cleansing is believed to remove heavy energy, restore balance, and help you feel lighter. Sometimes your relationships, opportunities, and peace can feel blocked because your spirit feels burdened. When done properly, with respect and good intentions, ukuzihlambulula can help you reconnect with yourself and your spiritual path.
5.) Respect your energy.
Many traditional teachings remind us that intimacy is not just physical it is also spiritual. If you are preparing for something important, such as a job interview, an initiation, prayer, or another significant life event, some people choose to abstain from sex as a way of protecting and focusing their spiritual energy. Whether you follow this practice or not, be intentional about the energy you carry into important moments.
6.) Not everything is amadlozi.
Sometimes it is simply your behaviour, your choices, your attitude, or the company you keep. We cannot blame ancestors for every consequence. Growth also requires accountability. Spirituality should make us more responsible, not less.
7.) Never ignore your gut feeling.
That quiet feeling can be a warning or guidance. Learn to listen before life is forced to teach you through pain. Your intuition often speaks softly long before danger speaks loudly.
8.) Some people are meant to be loved once.
Not every ex is meant to become your future. Sometimes God and the ancestors remove people because they have fulfilled their purpose in your life. Going back to what broke you can reopen wounds that were finally beginning to heal or even break you and block your things.
9.) Heal your soul after a relationship ends.
Heartbreak doesn't only affect the mind it can affect the spirit too. Many traditions speak about soul ties: emotional and spiritual bonds that may linger after a relationship. Give yourself time to grieve, pray, cleanse if that aligns with your beliefs, forgive, and truly let go before entering another relationship. Carrying yesterday's pain into tomorrow's love is unfair to both yourself and your next partner. Remove that soul tie.
10.) Parents and guardians, spiritually protect your children.
When children return from holidays, sleepovers, boarding school, or travelling, many families have traditions of praying with them or giving them a cleansing herbal bath as a symbol of protection and renewal. However you practise your faith or culture, continue covering your children with love, guidance, and prayer. The world they walk through carries many different energies, and they need every form of protection we can give them. At times people will target our children to get to us.
