1950 Spring in Midwestern Canada was Brutal. The red river (n) flood peaked at the End of May in Winnipeg More tnan a Month later than floods in 2009 and 2011. Viciously cold winter . Not necessarily a fair comparison . Similar to 1966.
Maple Creek SK peaked at 21.1C (70F) today, setting a new January record for Saskatchewan. Also appears to be 2nd warmest Jan temp recorded in ALL of Canada behind the 22.2C (72F) in Niagara Falls in Jan 1950 (need to verify). Just 2 weeks ago, Maple Creek hit -42.6C on Jan 14!
Y'know how a lot of younger people can't read cursive and apparently its not taught in some schools/ countries anymore? I hadn't really given it that much thought and it just hit me why it's important: if you can't read cursive you can't read primary source historical documents!!
