Some of the beautiful printing done by the Bugs and Buddues so far this week. Printing was done using traditional and unexpected objects on paintings made last week. Love these.
Fun times in the Maynooth classes today. Blending colours and decorating bags, t-shirts and pencil cases. The final part of this project is next week and will involve printing with all sorts of different things.
And so our annual exhibition 2024 was officially opened today. Congratulations to Eidan from today's Doodle Bug class, on winning the Leah Kelly award. Both classes were busy painting today too.
And so the first day of our final term this academic year started with a riot of colour in Newbridge today. I'm excited to see how they are finished next week.
A busy, but rewarding day today. Lots of progress made in #RuaRed by Hugh, hanging pieces for exhibition 2024. He's a star to get all this done for us in time for the start of the new term tomorrow. The theme for the exhibition is "animals", can you find an animal in every piece?
Today, Hugh @RuaRed began the mammoth task of installing our annual exhibition. I'm always impressed with how he does this, but this year I'm doubly so. Very exciting times this week.
Having spent a creatively nourishing weekend at @soearth_projects It's full steam ahead preparing for the summer term (hard to imagine through all this rain) starting back this week, and of course our annual exhibition, also opening this week. Can't wait to see you all again.
What a fantasic way to end this Spring term. All the incredible work made by Saturday's artists yesterday, such talent and creativity. Enjoy the two weeks holidays, looking forward to seeing you all again in the summer term.
Booking for the new term (starting after the Easter holidays) is now open. Classes fill very quickly. Please book now to avoid disappointment. https://t.co/d0iR8Sjuuy
A little bit of magic happens when applying water to drawings made with water soluble colouring pencils. Plenty of "oooohhhhs" & "aaahhhhhsss" this week.
Finally, we get to the week where the children get to decorate their pottery. Always such excitement at the start of class, then a (rare) quiet descends while they work with such focus and attention to detail. I always love the magic that happens in these classes.
Their brief was to create a surrealist picture using paint, drawing and collage. They had to make reference to the theme of "animals". Saturday's Doodle Buddies did not disappoint. Love these.
We're all broken-hearted here, our little Bailey died in the wee hours yesterday. It seems fitting that the theme for this year's exhibition is animals & many of the children have chosen dogs for their work β€οΈ I might just have to add in a little something of my own in his memory
