It was a long shot. She was underfunded and underestimated. Today on the Interview - @GinaHinojosaTX and what her surge against Gov. Gregg Abbott says about the midterms, and the issues that are motivating voters. https://t.co/BY4iywywhX
This is a five-alarm warning to every job and industry that relies on our sandy beaches and beautiful bluffs for its livelihood. Soon, you too could see your environment for sale to Big Oil, Elon Musk, and any other high bidder that buys its way into the White House ballroom.
For half a century, California and the federal government have cooperated to protect our coastline. Now, further proof that this administration wants to end that partnership.
This trumped-up evaluation is the latest evidence of what I and our delegation have been warning of: that Donald Trump’s NOAA is creating a pretext to take away California’s power to manage its own shores.
If these threats are seen through, an administration that has proven to be hell-bent on reopening California to dangerous offshore drilling and other environmental hazards would get the sole jurisdiction over our golden coast.
Yes to ALL of this! So much gratitude. 🙏❤️
And a huge thank you to THE driving force behind the @eMergeAmericas Miami AI Summit, Burhan! @burhansebin, you absolutely outdid yourself! 🙌 Your vision, energy, and execution were spot on 🎯
Excited for what’s next! 🚀🤝🙌
A wild story: the CEO of a US energy company whose plans were discussed during the Witkoff-Kushner-Putin negotiations resigns. Why? He learned that his company's main investor is a sanctioned Russian company, not the UAE

"Everything we love is on the line" in the US election. I argue that President Trump has systematically undone the strategy that since the 19th century has made the US the world's leading country. He has eroded our sources of greatness.
So what's at stake isn't just affordability or data centers or the Iran war. It's America's future: https://t.co/rUZ3LYpjaR
Christiane, you have helped the world see people and places it might otherwise have overlooked. You have told stories of courage and achievement, exposed injustice and asked difficult questions that demanded answers.
I have valued our conversations, from COVID-19 to the climate crisis, and the professionalism, respect and sense of urgency you brought to them. For small countries like ours, these are matters of lives and livelihoods. You helped ensure that our voices were heard and our concerns taken seriously.
As you prepare to leave @CNN, I congratulate you on an extraordinary contribution to journalism. Thank you for your commitment to truth, for the people whose stories you have carried and for the many lives your work has touched.
I salute you, @amanpour , and look forward to the stories you will continue to tell.
This is yet another occasion for us Caribbean people when June will be too soon!

The sudden collapse in naturalization processing is shocking when viewed in context.
Naturalization application processing is below where it was when COVID hit and federal operations were disrupted for months.
Latest dispatch from Springfield, Ohio, a lovely place where its economy has taken a hit as Haitian immigrants sequester in their homes or leave after the Trump administration canceled their temporary protected status.

We’ve lost one of the all-time great brasilianistas. Riordan Roett, for 45 years (!) a professor at SAIS and author of 25+ books, passed away on Saturday, the school confirms. His scholarship won him the the Order of Rio Branco (Brazil), the Order of Bernardo O’Higgins (Chile) and numerous other awards. He was known above all for his generosity with young people, including a woefully under-employed Texan journalist who wasn’t even his student, but whom he indulged anyway with a long coffee and chat about Brazil in his Washington DC office back in the mid-2000s — I’m sure countless others have similar stories. SAIS said plans for a memorial service are still being made. RIP Riordan Roett
Cap-Haitien, Haiti's second-largest city, is overwhelmed since President Trump revoked TPS and started deportation flights two months ago.
