I’d like to congratulate my good friend and mentor Jeff Trundy on his induction into the CCBL HOF today. I am incredibly honored to have worked alongside you for those 6 wonderful years and I can’t thank you enough for everything you have done for me.
Brayden Taylor continues to show off his pop 💥
MLB's No. 85 prospect (@RaysBaseball) has gone for extra bases on six straight hits for the High-A @BGHotRods:
Someone come get this kid. There is no reason he shouldn’t have a home by now. Physical frame that will continue to produce XBH. Doubles machine that plays lockdown defense in the OF! #GovSTUD 🎩
@CappsBrody
If anyone is in need of an OF, 1B, C or Arms there are still a lot of guys looking for homes that can make an impact at any level! Come get them before it’s too late! #GoGovs 🎩
My personal #2 Catcher in this year's Draft is Sam Houston State's Walker Janek. On pace for a career year and is currently hitting .392/.477/.730 with 11 doubles, 3 triples, 11 home runs, and 37 RBIs.
Prototypical catcher's build at 6' and 190-pounds with present strength and physicality. Quiet setup in the box with a slight load and small stride. Pretty compact swing with above-average bat speed. Uses his lower-half extremely well, a big fan of how he extends through the baseball and really finishes his swing. Serious wrist and forearm strength. Explosive - good looking athlete in the box.
Has shown the ability—both with wood and metal—to drive the baseball with authority to all fields and especially to the pull side. Consistently generates quality contact. Borderline plus power, but at least a 55. Approach is average, but has the tendency at times to expand the zone against secondaries.
Above-average feel for the barrel, no issues with velo. Would be pretty comfortable giving the hit tool a strong 50. Closer to a 55 than a 50.
Behind the plate is where Janek shines. Professional and polished defensive skillset. Receives extremely well - soft hands, consistently works below the baseball, has a knack for stealing strikes.
Advanced athlete back there as well. Moves well laterally, does an outstanding job of corralling/controlling balls in the dirt. Has a comfortably plus—and accurate—arm. Moves his feet well, quick transfers, great direction. After throwing out 36% of all base stealers on the Cape, Janek this year has thrown out a ridiculous 12 of 22 (54.5%) potential base stealers.
If I'm a team and he's still on the board for my second pick, maybe even later in the first round, I would be thrilled.

Travis Bazzana crushes a leadoff HR for the 4th (!) straight game to up his HR total to 12. This is what elite bat speed looks like. It's plus power to the pull side, too. Pro approach, extremely advanced pitch recogniton skills. ++ contact ability.
