Great to see Ryan Stalker win British Wildlife Photographer of the Year! 👏 We were honoured to use one of Ryan's goose barnacle images in our latest issue of #TheMarineBiologistMagazine.

Highlight of today's snorkel! What I believe to be a very shy Jorunna tomentosa having a poo! and quite a substantial one at that! 💩

My cover article in the MBA's Marine Biologist magazine, January edition. This time a story about cocaine, a corpse, a plane crash and goose barnacles.
Big thanks to Ryan Stalker who got the cover photo!
It's been an amazing 3 or so weeks of beachcombing. This American fishing buoy took a bit of careful dissecting, but it was worth it to find located deep in its nooks and crannies several tropical Oysters and Pen Shells. Thanks to @SteveTrewhella1 for ID's.
A few cool finds all washed up on Chesil Beach, Dorset in the last 14 days.
A deceased juvenile Loggerhead turtle. Marine worm - Eunice norvegica. Grey Trigger fish and a Zigzag scallop from warmer tropical waters.

I can now see why ships of old dreaded the Shipworm (Teredo spp.) This small fragment of sawn softwood washed up on Chesil beach recently had many individuals lurking inside.

Common Goose Barnacles and Lepas pectinata, washed up attached to this plastic bottle this morning on Chesil beach, all the way from the USA! 🇺🇸 How do I know? Well the kind person who threw it away thoughtfully packed the remnants of their Hot & Spicy Sausage inside the bottle!!
If all my great followers sign up, we'll crack the 10000 and get action on this - PLEASE I'm supporting @mcsuk, demanding @GOVUK protect people and planet by turning off the tap on chemical pollution. Take action to #StopOceanPoison today!: https://t.co/dmVWpfTaDx
Counted 22 dead gannets around Chesil Cove this morning with more dead floating in the sea. Gulls and 1 Raven feeding on the corpses! Not posting any more on this, it's too depressing! #DEFRA#portlandbirding#birdflu
A Scotty bait pot drifted over from the US. Trapped inside a small pelagic swimming crab. Its almost certainly a crab called Liocarcinus holsatus, otherwise known as the Flying crab or the Livid crab.
Thanks to @stevetrewella etal for the info. #liocarcinusholsatus
Yet more dead gannets! 3 new ones washed up, 3 floating in the sea or on rafts of seaweed and 2 still alive but being harassed by gulls. 11 dead in total now along that 1km stretch from the Cove and more to come!

Well that was a very nice surprise this morning, when a friend let me know I'd had a little mention in British Wildlife magazine for my courting Black-face blennies! Thank you very much @francesdipper it's much appreciated.
