#SpiderManBrandNewDay … is a bit of me.

Firstly, New York feels SO alive and lived-in.

Happy to report that the latest Spidey instalment is full of exciting comic book-y moments while still being very earnest and grounded in its storytelling.

I'm sure we'll have plenty to discuss over the coming days, but I thought Tom Holland was so, so impressive as both Peter and Spider-Man. He’s still bouncy, fun and quippy but crucially manages to capture such a familiar battle with the confusion, loneliness and longing that can slap you in the face when settling into young adulthood.

He’s fighting villains and saving the day but he’s also battling with how best to look after himself - physically and mentally and the emotional resonance really struck me. I also appreciate that despite being years into this life as Spider-Man, Peter still has so much to learn.

I'd say the opening is clunky, and the stakes could feel more weighty but at the end of the #brandnewday this is a street-level superhero flick with sincere real world parallels, amidst all the marvel craziness and overstuffed ‘universe building’ of course.
