Some people have a hard time recognizing privilege, saying “I work hard. I don’t get things handed to me.” I understand that. Here’s how I respond: privilege isn’t bonus points for you and your team. It’s unfair penalties the other team gets that you don’t.

Today is a reminder, a painful one, that democracy is fragile. To preserve it requires people of good will, leaders with the courage to stand up, who are devoted not to pursuit of power and personal interest at any cost, but to the common good.
After a year that has tested us in unimaginable ways, we've seen how people from all walks of life have stepped up to create change to make things better. Here's to ringing in 2021 with optimism for what's to come and a belief that our best days are still ahead. Happy New Year!
