@RedactedIguana There’s a difference between trying and actually executing. And they have an elite supporting cast, not just good. Players who would be top 2 players on many other teams.
Getting talented dudes like White and Zinger and Jrue to be role players is a huge separator.
What many hoopers don’t realize is that it’s not always about what you’re doing that separates, it’s with what level of intensity, focus, passion, and joy you are doing it.
If you are locked in and intentional, you will get better.
There’s a reason these dudes made Team USA
These type of defensive drills are good enough for the best players in the world playing on Team USA
You will still have high school and middle school kids going through the motions like they are a waste of time
If you do any sort of youth hoops coaching, this thread is gold.
Create an environment where players see you as an ally to help them figure out the challenges that get presented. Celebrate successes and support them through struggles. And find the joy in the process!
@stevejones20 Feel it’s such an underrated part of great defenses. They’re not perfect. It’s The 2nd and third efforts when stuff breaks down that lowers the eff. of those quality looks by getting that late contest, getting in the way. And knowing when the move is to stay put based on KYP
@SravanNBA It’s silly and arbitrary. Voters should just factor games/minutes played into their evaluation and decide how much weight or not to give it.
