@1alien2@small4lyfe@greatmattsby@joncoopertweets Not even remotely, JD Vance has even come out to say they deliberately mislead the American public to bring attention to the “crisis” of illegal immigration in the town. They aren’t illegal for starters, while the cat that was supposedly eaten is still alive.
@harris_wins Yeah, we’ll see. He also said if the election was lost he’d accept the result, all the while undermining it before it even happened, trying to rig the results while they were being counted, then drumming up a violent insurrection on Jan 6th. So we’ll see.
@brithume He literally was there to stir up the crowd and ordered them to charge the capitol, and egged them on calling for Pence’s head. Not even remotely the same thing as the Dem’s claiming him a threat, however they have appeared to ceased that rhetoric.
@StephenIkechuk4@GrayConnolly@elonmusk But lies (mis- or dis-information) should never be held with the same importance as objective truth. Fundamentally, there’s no freedom of speech or opinion if lies are considered equally valuable to the truth, as truth would hold no value at all. This is the fundamental problem.
@StephenIkechuk4@GrayConnolly@elonmusk Subjective truth is useful if you want to talk about how you feel and other person specific realities. But adults live in the real world and objective truth exists by working with the facts. I agree that it’ll likely be abused by self proclaimed arbiters politically on both sides
@StephenIkechuk4@GrayConnolly@elonmusk What bs. Sure someone’s truth is their truth but the objective truth is simply what happened, you can determine it through a shared understanding or following the facts. Mis- or dis-information absolutely exists, and it flies in the face of objective truth as it ignores facts.
@StephenIkechuk4@GrayConnolly@elonmusk Truth isn’t subjective though, and there’s a problem when you start to police truth in that if it’s not “their” truth, then you end up in the clink. But that is seperate from the idea that you can’t simply spread misinformation as if it is an alt-truth either.
@nonestlex Marginal tax rate on $200,000 is 32% as you only end up paying $63,667. So if you do in fact pay another $40k per year (which maybe we need to fact check that too) then you’d be paying 52% tax. Also get creative with your accountant and you might get that lower with deductions.
@TimHale30495040@PRGuy17@tweeter_vee You know what a surplus is right? One of the key predictors of whether a budget is inflationary or not is whether it actually does borrow (which it doesn’t) and LNP simps (much like yourself) said something similar about the last budget and the exact opposite happened.
@mervfrench303 @russ61@PeterDutton_MP Our Lamb is cheaper overseas than here. If you reduce demand the over-production of supply should lead to a price drop, at least in the short term, then a re-establishment of supply.
@Lolaka94@Lisa9Sophia Wow, so two days ago ScoMo takes his family (and did in 2015 too) nobody bats an eye. Yet, Albo takes his fiance who is obviously a fan and he cops it from you guys because he gets up and dances a bit. But hey, it’s not a rugby game?
Gosh, scraping the bottom of the barrel here.
@MattBBusBAppSc@LorEssa123456@Lisa9Sophia While you are quite right, No amount of logic will get through LNP rhetoric. If Dutton and his mob were in power they’d be quiet about him being “unelected” and probably be giving a litany of forgivable lines as to why the country is an LNP dumpster fire and it’d be Labor’s fault
@heckle_dr @theheraldsun Under our system, a person on $350 pays practically no tax, they use it to live. Someone on $3500 pays 30.7% or $1075 a pay in tax leaving them with $2425 to live. The tax burden is fair because both need to live. Flattening the tax brackets only serve to widen inequity.
@heckle_dr @theheraldsun Our system is progressive, essentially you go up on a sliding scale slowly
Over time. By your argument nobody should pay tax simply by the notion it’s unfair that those that have more pay more. Should someone earning $350 a week pay the same tax as someone $3500 a week?
@riktheozfrog@Cranky_Old_Guy@AustralianLabor@unionsaustralia How about you do a bit of research before you criticise, the legislation allows for reasonable contact such as offering extra shifts.
The legislation is to stop those employers that essentially treat you as a 24/7 employee. See out of hours emails, meetings, phone calls.
@Zaan909090@55leeanne@theheraldsun If negative gearing were to be changed there would be no way they’d remove it entirely, it may be a long term goal but I’d say they’d likely remain incentivised to own 2-3 properties at least for a long time. The hope is that this might contract the sector and slow price growth.
