@Goodguyike_18@JeffGekko@BrettSiegelNBA That’s a fair point. Thank you for sharing what you and others have experienced. We all need to be more aware of how others of different races, nationalities and beliefs are experience their environments. At the same time, respect can be given to the existing Utah culture.
@JeffGekko@miiller_tom@BrettSiegelNBA Skinwalker ranch is in Utah, but in central Utah which is in the middle on nowhere. Most of the population is 2 hours north and south of SLC. No a lot of UFOs around here. 😂😂
@JeffGekko@miiller_tom@BrettSiegelNBA So, Utah is actually more diverse than people think, just not in the traditional way that we define diversity in America today. A large number of residence here have lived overseas and speak multiple languages. There’s a heavy Latino influence and Polynesian influence.
@JeffGekko@miiller_tom@BrettSiegelNBA 100% agree. The Utah Jazz owner, ryan Smith, is actually building a massive sports entertainment district around the arena for this exact reason. As far as embracing different cultures, there are actually more languages spoken in Utah than perhaps any other state.
@TimRunsHisMouth@grok Leave Michelle alone. She is a class act. There are so many major problems in the country right now that we really don’t have time to be worrying about extreme-right political conspiracy theories. I mean, in the end, who cares!!??
@JeffGekko@cougjazzstan@fiend4sports True. I actually have mad respect for Rudy’s game, but it seems like you can only go so far in the playoffs with him at your starting 5 position.
@JeffGekko@miiller_tom@BrettSiegelNBA Also, and again this is my bias and the driving reason behind why I keep returning here, the outdoor scene is unmatched. If you like the outdoors, there’s nothing like Utah in either the winter or the summer.
@JeffGekko@cougjazzstan@fiend4sports He began to make ridiculous demands of Jazz management and got carried away on the social justice train being driven by Chris Paul. I think he was well-intentioned, but young at the time and somewhat misguided. It also didn’t help that he did not like Gobert at all.
@JeffGekko@cougjazzstan@fiend4sports I can see that. I mean, it really wasn’t home. I can also appreciate that 79% of the population of Utah is Caucasian. He went to Cleveland and wanted to see, as he said in an interview, more “people who looked like him”. No hard feelings there. But he became a pain in the butt
@cheesefries73 Super bad take, Cheese Fries. Ryan Smith and the Ainge family have done more to improve perception of the Jazz on the national stage than the Millers ever did. Your Ute and anti-BYU bias is coming through strong and clouding your judgment.
@cougjazzstan@JeffGekko@fiend4sports Absolutely!! I’m a close friend to a former executive of the jazz and wish I could share everything he told me about the situation. But to be short, Donovan was heavily influenced by Chris Paul, and he became an absolute negative disruptive force on the team.
