From @NorthJuniorHigh to @DoverDolphins , Principal @CarissaCarey has grown her career alongside RISD for 17 years.

One of her favorite parts of RISD? The feeling of family. Over the years, Carissa has taught and supported generations of students and families — and now serves as principal to some of her former students’ children. Talk about a full-circle moment!

As a first year principal, RISD has also been a place of growth, with mentors and leaders who saw her potential, poured into her and challenged her at every step along the way.

Her advice to young educators? Always keep students at the core of their passion. There is always a lot going on in public education and it is not always easy. If your students remain your why, you never lose the joy and you remain steadfast in your purpose.

#ThankAPrincipal Your dedication is already making such an impact on our Dover Dolphins! 🐬 #RISDDreamOn

🎉🎉 Richardson ISD has earned a B Rating from the Texas Education Agency for 2026, up 3.6 points from last year. 31 campuses have earned an A or B, confirming what we have been working toward—continued growth and student progress. Collectively, 34 schools earned 113 academic distinctions.

This achievement belongs to our entire school community and reflects the learning and growth happening in our classrooms every day.

We remain committed to our district’s North Star Goal, where every student will meet or exceed their academic growth goals.
