Mammon

I didn’t just Fall, I did backflips. A Prince of Hell, Demon of Avarice. Matter matters. #GoodOmensRP 21+

[Mammon @DownwardBent]

@AngelOfBounty I shrug, “I didn’t know that it was.”

[Mammon @DownwardBent]

@AngelOfBounty “Good.” I could be a dreadful tease and leave it at that, but I clarify, “I couldn’t imagine anyone being suitable enough for you. Never settle for less than the best… Whatever that means for you.”

Probably not me. It’s been ages, but there’s still a sting there I can’t shake.

[Mammon @DownwardBent]

@AngelOfBounty forgiveness, but I don’t really expect that. Angels never think they’re in the wrong. I take a demonically long draw from my cigar and exhale slowly.

“So… Are you seeing anyone?”

[Mammon @DownwardBent]

@AngelOfBounty My gaze flicks back, perhaps because I don’t feel I’m being watched, so I’m free to stare, “It has been a long time… Too long to worry ourselves with petty little personal squabbles. We can be professional, can’t we?”

You’re not exactly throwing yourself at my feet asking-

[Mammon @DownwardBent]

I nod slowly, for your benefit, “I’m a demon. We do that.”

[Michael, Duty Officer Supreme {rp} @TrustMeImNAngel]

I am not pit-- *I lower my voice with a huff.* I am not pitching a fit. You are being recalcitrant and rude.

[Mammon @DownwardBent]

“Archangel of Nonsense. Sufferer of none because you are the inflictor of said nonsense. You’re pitching a fit. Do I need to call Mum to come pick you up? Or are you going to throw down the gauntlet and declare an act of war?”

“There’s always the third option of calming down.”

[Michael, Duty Officer Supreme {rp} @TrustMeImNAngel]

I am /not/ full of nonsense! I am an Archangel, Duty Officer, and the Almighty's Chosen Warrior. I suffer nonsense from no one.

[Mammon @DownwardBent]

@AngelOfBounty I play idly with the cigar between my fingers, take another puff, glance in the opposite direction, “…Sometimes the pure /are/ worth the trouble.”

It’s not exactly an answer.

[Mammon @DownwardBent]

“Oooooh, yes you do. I could ask around, if you’d like? Take a vote. I think you’d be unpleasantly surprised at just how much nonsense you’re full of that is uniquely you.”

[Michael, Duty Officer Supreme {rp} @TrustMeImNAngel]

I beg your fallen pardon? I've no brand of nonsense whatsoever.

[Mammon @DownwardBent]

“Not a coward. Just not interested in your brand of nonsense.”

[Michael, Duty Officer Supreme {rp} @TrustMeImNAngel]

Coward...

[Mammon @DownwardBent]

@AngelOfBounty “And what if you do? It’s my place. I can do what I like… And some men don’t take to sin. More trouble than it’s worth to corrupt them…”

[Mammon @DownwardBent]

“Take it up with God.”

[Michael, Duty Officer Supreme {rp} @TrustMeImNAngel]

Why are you so bloody difficult?

[Mammon @DownwardBent]

“The second one, then. I have a palace. I’ll be just fine.”

[Michael, Duty Officer Supreme {rp} @TrustMeImNAngel]

Offer? What kind of offer could I make to you, Mammon, officially or not? I am not in charge of allowing Ascended Demons. That is between your lot and the Almighty. I just wanted to remind you what you sauntered away from so willingly.

[Mammon @DownwardBent]

“So, are you making me an offer? Officially? Or are you just trying to make me feel bad for what I did and then dangling the idea of a happy life in Heaven above my head to taunt me?”

[Michael, Duty Officer Supreme {rp} @TrustMeImNAngel]

Sandalphon might have cigars? I'm not sure. I try to steer clear of him and his cronies. A little too zealous to carry out certain orders, that lot. And the music is just fine Upstairs. I've no idea what those other things are.

[Mammon @DownwardBent]

“Oh. Are there cigars in Heaven? Gaming machines? Horse races? Decent music?”

[Michael, Duty Officer Supreme {rp} @TrustMeImNAngel]

The fact that we exist is proof of that love. She wouldn't have created any of us if She didn't love us. How can you not understand that? We have everything we could want in exchange for doing Her good works, following Her orders.

[Mammon @DownwardBent]

“We helped make pretty things and yet were told none of it was for us. Don’t we deserve something for our hard work? If She loved us, where is the proof of that love?”

[Michael, Duty Officer Supreme {rp} @TrustMeImNAngel]

I wasn't even speaking about the humans, Mammon, but that's not the point. How can you turn from She who created you in the first place? She who loved you, probably still does. You are disrespectful, petulant, and selfish to turn from the love that begat you.

[Mammon @DownwardBent]

“Humans are such unworthy things. Why should they get all the baubles and treats? And fun. You do know what that is. Fun?”

My expression is skeptical.

“Never mind. My point is that I am loyal to the highest bidder and currently, that’s Satan. I see no issue in that.”

[Michael, Duty Officer Supreme {rp} @TrustMeImNAngel]

Greed. Such a noble priority. No wonder you fell. Too selfish to trust in the Almighty's plans.

[Mammon @DownwardBent]

“Wouldn’t cross you if you were the last bridge in the universe. I have my own priorities.”

[Michael, Duty Officer Supreme {rp} @TrustMeImNAngel]

At least Lucifer has his priorities in order. I still owe him for all of that. The rest of you? Don't cross me or face my righteous wrath.

[Mammon @DownwardBent]

“He speaks just as fondly of you, you know. We hear it all the time. Michael this, Michael that, ‘Michael is the worst of the lot of them Up There.’ ‘Bloody wanker, I’ll get them.’ ‘When the War continues, remember that Michael is mine and mine alone.’ Just like that.”

[Michael, Duty Officer Supreme {rp} @TrustMeImNAngel]

I never said /your/ fall was spectacular. I was speaking of the whole bloody stupid lot of you, up to and particularly including your boss.

[Mammon @DownwardBent]

“Whoops. Going a little too far. Noted.”

[Satan (Lucifer) @SheMakesIBreak]

“/Mon/.”

[Mammon @DownwardBent]

“You think it was spectacular? Michael, I’m blushing.”

[Michael, Duty Officer Supreme {rp} @TrustMeImNAngel]

I-- *I pull up short, unsure how to answer that. And then it comes to me.* If all of creation was meant to be good and beautiful, none of you demons would've fallen so spectacularly, would you?
