This is a malicious damage to property and the landlord can sue him and recover damages against him. By law, when you make improvements like this to the landlord’s property, they become part of the property of the landlord and cannot be removed without the consent of the landlord and when removing, you must not cause damage to the property.

Aside this, this is one of the reasons I promised myself not to over decorate someone’s house under the guise of furnishing to my taste. The only house I am furnishing to my taste is the house I built or bought with my own money.

What some people do not know is that when you improve tenanted properties like this, you ginger the landlord to either increase the rent or send you an eviction notice. Even if you will make improvements, do not let it so substantial that at the time of eviction, you will be incurring so much loss.
