Time should be spent now on figuring out how to deliver books regularly to homes, get kids on WiFi w/ a device, get math manipulatives and art supplies out. In person school is going to be short-lived (if it happens at all) and might even be worse than remote instruction.

Students are in the development stages of their Tall Tales. To encourage meaningful conversations among readers and writers, writers ask for specific feedback from their pieces: questions, suggestions and ideas. All participants play an important role in sharing.

@DocCatto However, overall I really work to have students express in conferences what and where they need support. Serravallo’s Writing Strategies is a great resource for teaching strategies and goal setting and Carl Anderson’s Writing Conference Book is fantastic! Hope this helps!

@DocCatto In the initial conference, we set a goal, then we focus on two specific skills towards the goal. I slowly teach strategies to student in conferences depending on need. As a T we want the strategy to eventually become automatic with the student. This will show progress.
