@ShitpostRock Window 95. Bro had this game and I remember watching him play. Hadnt played RTS games at the age of 6 yet but the art in the guide book drew me in. Gorey and gritty. When they actually had balls. Now everything is safe, corporate, corny and boring af.
THE RAID was released 13 years ago this week. One of the great martial arts films this century and the film which showcased the talents of filmmaker Gareth Evans, the making of story is pretty massive…

Apparently Kotaku is melting down. I haven't regularly visited Kotaku or the other large gaming sites in over a decade. I can't say I will be sad to see the current brand of gaming journalism take a hit.
All I want is actual reporting on gaming news, reviews, etc. You can keep the moralizing opinion pieces, the hit pieces and all of that. Writers are free to create a Patreon, Substack or a YouTube channel for that and if there's a market they will be successful.
I watched for many years as developers I know, or companies, were dragged through the press in misleading headline click bait and hit pieces. The misquoting or cherry picking of quotes for clicks was often talked about in game developer circles. Somewhere in the 2000's the press became an actual active enemy of game developers and someone to avoid or only talk to if you have someone that's a PR vessel for the company. A far cry from gaming press of the 90s.
One can only hope that the Winds of Change are coming, but I suspect it's just a momentary speed bump. We shall see.

RIP Matthew Perry 🙏
I know he's extremely popular for his roles in TV and movies, but he's always been Benny from Fallout New Vegas to me. He will be missed. ❤️
