For Musiala right now the best decision is not another ‘I’ll be ready for the Supercup’ speech. The best decision is to stop, breathe, and put his health first without any pressure from the club, the calendar, or the fans. A proper break. Not two weeks of ‘rest and recovery’. Real time away if the doctors see anything worrying. Football will still be there when he’s 25, 26. A damaged body or a heart that starts playing tricks won’t.

Should he hang the boots? Not yet. He’s too young and too talented. But he should be mature enough to understand that the next time his body talks, he needs to listen harder than any coach or sporting director. I retired because I didn’t want to become a story of ‘what if’. Musiala still has time to avoid becoming that story.

Some people will say I’m being dramatic. Let them. I’ve lived the dramatic version. Prioritising health over football is not weakness. It’s the most intelligent thing a player can do once the warning signs appear. And right now, the signs are there.”
