So weird that there’s more blame on Kiko Pangilinan instead of the parents who raised their children to be this violent, and had allowed these kids to access guns regardless if by fault or negligence.
An important point to consider:
Kung ang nakikita ng mga kabataan ngayon ay hindi pinaparusahan si Bato Dela Rosa, o ang ibang mga pulis at sundalo na walang habas kung pumatay, hindi rin sila mangingiming ilagay ang batas sa kanilang kamay.
State violence breeds more violence.
Gagaling 😐
MAY PANANAGUTAN ANG MGA MENOR DE EDAD NA NASASANGKOT SA KRIMEN
Marami pa ring maling impormasyon tungkol sa Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act.
May pananagutan. May proseso.
As someone who has spent three decades advocating for children, I find it deeply troubling that his first instinct is to make younger children criminally liable rather than address the failures that allowed this tragedy to happen in the first place.
Three children are dead.
The question is not why a 10-year-old should be punished.
The question is why minors have access to firearms.
The question is why violence continues to find its way into our schools.
The question is why our education, mental health, social welfare, and law enforcement systems repeatedly fail children before a crime is ever committed.
Real leadership requires more than reacting to headlines.
It requires understanding the problem.
Lowering the age of criminal responsibility may generate applause. It may generate media attention. But there is little evidence that it addresses the root causes of youth violence.
Children who commit serious crimes must be held accountable. But accountability should not become a substitute for prevention.
A senator’s responsibility is not merely to propose the harshest response. It is to propose the most effective one.
I have worked with vulnerable children for most of my adult life. Many have been abused, neglected, abandoned, exploited, or exposed to violence long before they ever entered conflict with the law.
It is easy to appear tough on children.
It is much harder to confront the adult failures that create these tragedies.
Before Senator Padilla asks Congress to treat younger children as criminals, perhaps he should explain why government has failed to protect them as children in the first place.
This is how culture dies btw. Tataguriang yagit ang sariling kultura at papalitan ng mas proper diumano na kultura mula sa banyaga. Tapos biglang maiinggit sa Thailand kasi nakeep daw ang traditions nila
📣 carats and huihuis, please don't also forget to vote for JUN for Best Supporting Actor in the 38th Hundred Flowers Awards if you can!
the guidelines for voting are stated in the tweet below
Back in 2021, Jun auditioned & got a chance to film EFT which was a low budget drama. The reason he chose it was because it had a flexible schedule & SEVENTEEN related schedules wouldn't be hindered. He was able to film Rock with You MV and participate in Attaca album preparation and some of the promotions. Surprisingly, EFT did really well when it was released in 2023, topping the IQIYI popular drama charts and then, got multiple re-runs on Japanese TV because of it's explosive popularity. It got him a major award in BUSAN INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL in 2023 too. In 2024, there was an open audition for Blades of the Gaurdians where the casting director was looking for a young actor with martial arts background. Huihuis recommended him a lot & he eventually got a chance to audition and eventually selected. The fact here is that the role was a very small one. Yet, he was ready to take it. One of the continual praises the industry movie critics gives to Jun is how he is not afraid to take on small roles despite being an established public figure already(a kpop idol). He takes one small step at a time to reach bigger steps. The director of The Shadow's Edge Larry Yang was one of the screenwriter of BOTG, that's where Jun met him and it's an industry well known fact how diligently Jun prepared for & performed his role despite the screentime being extremely less and his performance greatly impressed the legendary director Yuen Woo Ping himself who commended him and called him one of the actors who can continue the legacy of Wuxia. And this dedication & the credibility of his acting and skills was what made him casted to be a part of The Shadow's Edge alongside Jackie Chan and Tony Leung. After the success of TSE, he met Marc Ma who saw his potential and casted him as the lead role for Go for Broke 2. And there are other lead roles and cameos too which he bagged which are not yet made publicly announced so I am not gonna go into details about it. Jun had a lucrative career in acting even before being a SEVENTEEN member, won Best new actor at HongKong Director's Guild Awards and was nominated for the Best New performer in Hong Kong Film Awards at the age of 10. Being with SEVENTEEN was just a pause in that career which he continued again with EFT. My point is that Jun's acting career isn't a product of Hybe/pledis's payola or connections. This is a career he has build on hard work, sacrifices & pure grit. If hybe/pledis could've gotten him acting gigs, then many idols in Hybe would have gotten into film industry much earlier than him cz MANY are trying to get into acting. Do you think Hybe payola can get you movie roles & major film festival invites without proper credibility as an actor? That's one thing that absolutely pisses me off - when someone discredits Jun's hard earned accolades and success and subtly imply Hybe/Pledis got it for him. That's a self made man right there and you wonder why pledis/hybe doesn't support him and give him EXPOSURE. It's precisely because they have no hand in his success in the first place.
Director Marc Ma Once again mentioned JUNHUI at Douyin movie night today.
Director Ma: Everyone including Wen Junhui who couldn't come today due to work, I believe the audience will see a completely different side of them! Something they've never seen before!
the cast of Go for Broke 2 mentioned Jun during their interview at Weibo Movie Night today 🥹😭
Bai Ke: (the cat behind us) looks a little like Xiaowen (JUN), it somehow makes the team feel more complete, it’s cute
Director Ma: You’ll get to see a different side of JUN in the movie
JUN is the main lead of Go for Broke 2. And the cast is going to SIFF, Weibo Night and Douyin movie night for the movie promotion. All extremely prestigious events for an actor and his visibility/promotion. The time frame is like this-
Caratland- 21st June
SIFF- 13th June
Weibo Night- 14th June
Douyin Movie Night- 16th June
And Jun, being invited, cannot go to a single event due to the company citing 'conflicting schedules'.
What on hell is the company trying to do here? Jun has flown from China just to shoot a 3 minute promotional video or even GoSe before, got called to attend fansigns and fancalls for a solid 15 hour+ back to back but, why is him attending these events, as a MAIN LEAD, being restricted? Cannot even attend a single event? Who is managing the schedules and what is his schedule on these days? I am really curious. WHAT OTHER SCHEDULE IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN THIS. The actor can't go to acting related events & festivals. What an irony! Can't promote in Korea, can't go to Korean shows by himself and now, even his acting related events in China are getting blocked. And the contract has just been signed again, they say. Idc but Jun's personal sacrifice for this renewal is way too pricey. A vermin company will always be a vermin. It's giving me past flashbacks when his opportunities were blocked in this same manner. We have receipts you know. I don't know how to even move from here. SO TIRED TO KEEP REPEATING THE SAME STUFF LIKE A RECORDER. @pledis17_STAFF@pledis_17
