@gsinton sharing the WHY at our Play, Maker and Inquiry PL this afternoon. Teachers are exposed to a range of new maker skills to build their own teacher knowledge. @DPS_Mstn
Started the Maker Wall of Fame in the Rātā team today... linked to one our creativity indicators; dare to be brave and different... These 6 excited learners are the first to feature... they were so pumped, especially with the added incentive from @shaun_harkness@DPS_Mstn
Our 5 yos lost part of their marble run so made a cardboard part to fix it! These boys used the cardboard prototype to design and print a replacement on our 3D printer! We had some very excited people, mainly @gsinton@DPS_Mstn
The #TLIF project is coming to an end. Awesome opportunity to discuss and reflect today. We’re looking forward to sharing the Wins, the Why and the Challenges with wider staff next week. @DPS_Mstn
Making to develop a core belief. This week we did another #MysteryBagChallenge to help us learn about developing a plan of action; one of our agency indicators. @DPS_Mstn#TLIF#MakerEd
We’ve spent the term setting up our core belief place mats. Ss drew a symbol to help them remember each indicator. Today we started using them! They have identified a goal to work on for the week while they work on a project around our inquiry ‘Make it better’ #MakerEd@DPS_Mstn
As the project nearing an end, today was time for some reflection; how has our thinking changed, how was our practice changed and what does this mean for student outcomes? #TLIF#MakerEd@DPS_Mstn
During our TLIF journey we have gone through lots changes in the Ss independent making. Most recently they have been making to solve a problem. We have decided to change it up each week & this week; they get to make for the sake of making. Excitement levels are high! @DPS_Mstn
How cool is this... Shaun made this to show how his thinking has changed... the person on earth can jump up and down 5cm... the moon astronaut can jump up and down 30cm because the moon has 6x less gravity! @DPS_Mstn
Another great session with @mosborne01 today. An opportunity for our TLIF team to take stock and discuss what the project means for our teaching and learning, moving forward. Exciting times ahead at DPS. @DpsMaker
So cool to come back to school and see the progress of our students inquiry actions. Chloe is trying to improve her Taha Whānau by designing and making this spinning wheel to get her family doing more things together. @DpsMaker#MakingAtDPS
Was so awesome going through a design thinking process task from @stanforddschool. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience and made me really think about how I can improve my maker practice. Also highlighted the need for me to work on my prototyping!! @DpsMaker#BePresent
This week Liam designed and printed a gift for his mum for Mother’s Day. He used tinkercad to create the heart, rotate it and added the circle in the middle. Such awesome critical thinking, creativity and agency on display. Well done Liam. Happy Mother’s Day to everyone. #TLIF
Drawing on the explicit teaching around making and our core beliefs, we are blown away by what our learners come up with in their choice driven making. These boys were so focussed and engaged when making survival tools! #creativity#collaboration#agency#criticalthinking#TLIF
Making and Critical Thinking in action during a wet lunch time today. By learners have choice in their making and effective teaching around the core beliefs this self driven application is possible. @DpsMaker
