@willmasonmusic I tried this in my theory IV class last spring and one student caught the giggles because people started moaning and she got embarrassed. So, is that a valid performance? Her vocal folds vibrated naturally, but perhaps not slowly and not with "intentional" sound...
@juliannegrasso This costco globe fan is actually worth the hype. It's the strongest, quietest fan I've ever owned and now I need one for every room π«
@pwallinga I would love to include your music! I will peruse your catalog and poke you this summer :) My goal is to make it easier for students to consider commissions and premiering new music, so definitely want to lean into living composer works.
I'm trying to finish up my grading for the semester, so of course I'm brainstorming for next spring's seminar instead (20th/21st century art song in english). So...who are your favorite LIVING art song composers, and where can I get their scores?
@RPDeshaies It's Poor Wayfaring Stranger in C minor, starting around the words "sickness, toil or danger." Here's a recording in a different key: https://t.co/RgwYfMTHBS
Dear composers: make sure your birth year is somewhere on your dang website so when I program your music I can follow program formatting rules! kthxbye
Henlo Saturday night music theory twitter discourse, I am here to simply say that it's time we come up with a new word to replace "contemporary." Music written 100 years ago is not contemporary. That's silly.
@d_chaloux Just...please, living/working artist, look up the dang word "contemporary" in the dictionary. Do you want to put your work in the same basket as Bartok? Or do you think perhaps things have changed in the last 100 years? Come on now.
@Komaniecki_R The anthem is "Cap a la part del Pirineu," and we learned it and performed it on every concert. They all stood up and raised their hands during our concert in the Santa Maria Basilica in Girona, and then made us sing it again during the reception (that's when we all held hands).
@Komaniecki_R In 2003, my choir was on tour in Barcelona when the US declared war on Iraq. Amongst "No a la guerra" protests we sang the Catalan anthem in a 10th century cathedral while holding hands with Catalonians, tears in everyone's eyes. It's the reason I do music, encapsulated.
@jmgerraughty@lu_la_re Seconding this! I just got into an indie perfumery, Sucreabeille, and I highly recommend. Warning, their sales tiers are legendary and dangerous.
