الرئيس جوزف عون ردّ اليوم بعنف على المعترضين على إتفاق الإطار الموقّع مع إسرائيل في واشنطن، معتبراً أنّ هؤلاء "تعوّدوا الوصاية"، وأنّ قرار فصل لبنان عن إتفاق وقف النار الأيراني- الأميركي كان "قراراً سيادياً"!!
وكان قال بالأمس:
" إذا ما بدكم الإتفاق، أعطونا فرصة لنجرّبه، إذا مشي بيكون مشي، وإذا ما مشي خليه يسقط لحالو، خلّي إسرائيل تسقّطو مش نحنا نسقّطو ، عالقليلة منكون حافظنا على كلمتنا قدام المراجع الدولية"…

تعليق وتوضيح:
أولاً،
بالنسبة للقول "اعطونا فرصة لنجرّب الإتفاق"،
فالبديهي انه لا يجب أن يوافق لبنان اصلاً على إتفاق يجعل شعبه وأرضه "حقل تجارب" لإسرائيل بما يطيل إستباحتها للجنوب، فيما تجهل دولتنا متى ينتهي حقل التجارب الإسرائيلية هناك!!

ثانياً،
وبالنسبة لخوف الرئيس من أن يسوّد لبنان وجهه أمام المراجع الدولية وأن ينتظر إسرائيل لإسقاط الإتفاق أوّلاً،
فالمسألة ليست في من يُسَقِّط الاتفاق أوّلاً، ولا إذا كان لبنان سيسوّد وجهه مع المراجع الدولية، بل المسألة أنه ليس لإسرائيل مطلقاً أي مصلحة بأن تُسقِط ذلك الإتفاق قبلنا، لأن السلطة اللبنانية أعطتها فيه مكاسب لم تكن تحلم بها في الجنوب، ولا حتى في اتفاق ١٧ ايار في زمن الرئيس أمين الجميّل…

ثالثاً،
ورغم أنّ أميركا هي الضامنة الوحيدة للإتفاق، فإنه لم يتجرّأ أي مسؤول لبناني حتى اللحظة بأن يدين إسرائيل لخرقها الإتفاق أو أن يشكوها لأميركا، لا عندما "تفقُّد" نتانياهو ووزارؤه جنوب لبنان، ولا في تصريحاته ووزرائه حول ضمّ المنطقة الأمنية والبقاء فيها أبدياً، ولا عن استمرار اعتداءاتها اليومية…

رابعاً،
أمّا عن السيادة والوصاية،
فيبدو بوضوح أنّ السلطة الحالية عندنا، التي جرى تعيينها بضغوط خارجية علنية، كانت مُلزَمة بتسديد فاتورة تعيينها، فبادرت تحت الضغط والمديونية إلى توقيع إتفاق غير سيادي مع إسرائيل بعدما نجحت هذه الأخيرة، وليس نحن كما ندّعي، في دفع واشنطن لإخراج وقف النار في لبنان من الاتفاق الأميركي-الإيراني بحيث تمكّنت من الإستفراد بلبنان كما إستفرد الذئب بالخروف…

وبالخلاصة،
فالإدعاء بأنّ أخراج لبنان من إتفاق وقف النار الاميركي-الإيراني كان قراراً سيادياً من السلطة اللبنانية، هو تسخيف للواقع وإستهزاء بعقول اللبنانيين الذين يدركون اليوم أيضاً ورغم إنقساماتهم، بأنّ توقيع اتفاق الإطار مع إسرائيل كان تنفيذاً لتعليمات، عدا عن كونه غير قابل للتطبيق من خلال بنوده الغامضة والإنبطاحية،
وعدا عن أنّه أدخل لبنان في دهاليز وتعقيدات لن يخرج منها بحيث أعطى شرعية لبنانية رسمية لإستمرار الاحتلال الإسرائيلي وإعتداءاته وحقل تجارب له إلى أجلٍ غير محدود…

Today, I introduced a resolution to honor the crew of the USS Liberty. 59 years ago, Israel attacked the ship, killing 34 Americans and wounding 174.

The President should declassify and publicly release all files related to Israel’s unprovoked attack on the USS Liberty.

The 14th Amendment was written primarily to guarantee citizenship to formerly enslaved people and prevent states from denying it. It also reflected the longstanding common-law principle of jus soli (birthright citizenship) inherited from England, where birth on the sovereign’s soil generally conferred subject status. Whether modern policy should change is a separate debate from what the amendment originally established.

Today’s Supreme Court decision is a victory for the Constitution and the rule of law. By reaffirming birthright citizenship under the Fourteenth Amendment, the Court upheld a foundational promise: that citizenship is not subject to shifting political winds, but protected by our Constitution. As Chief Justice John Roberts wrote, the Fourteenth Amendment extended that promise to “every free-born person in this land.” Today, the Court kept that promise. A strong day for constitutional principles, equal protection, and the enduring strength of our democracy.
