We, the Dept of Nephrology, SSKM Hospital/ IPGME&R, Kolkata has performed its first ever ABOi kidney transplantation in the new year on 2nd January. This is first of its kind in the government sector of West Bengal. Many more to come in recent future.

The perennial question arose whether we see GCA and PMR in India- we certainly do albeit a relatively lower incidence - definitely needs further study - perhaps with ultrasound shoulders and flexor tendons of patients diagnosed with ‘seronegative inflammatory arthritis’

Starting with 0.075mg/kg/d divided into twice a day orally along with oral steroid. We usually target T0 level of around 3 - 6 in these patients. We’re getting the best results.

We’re (IPGME&R Nephrology) again a topper at national level…. Our PDT Dr Sourav bagged the First prize in AVATAR Poster presentation on Interventional Nephrology. I’m very much proud as this is a much needed recognition and after several hurdles we could initiate Interventions.
