@ISmokeEmWet@T_bleek@Blutman27 Short version is our athletic dept is inept when it comes to football. Bone head decisions abound. UCLA as an institution doesn’t need or care about cfb and that attitude seems to permeate everything in and around the program. After decades of being terrible most fans are out too
@4thGenBruin There’s something fundamentally wrong with the program. Whether it’s an institutional culture, the type of players that come here, lack of donor money, fan engagement, a curse, or a mix of all of the above. I have no idea. But it’s clear to me Ucla will NEVER be a football school
@4thGenBruin Easy to say now. People made arguments for each. Kelly for example was considered maybe the best hire in cfb at the time. An “NFL flameout” in the same way Saban was… but a cfb “genius” (at the time). Came to ucla and 💩 the bed. After 20 years of this same cycle I have no faith
@ISmokeEmWet@T_bleek@Blutman27 I’ve heard the same thing with every new coach for the past 20 years “it’s gonna be different now“ and guess what? It never is. So forgive me if I don’t believe it this time either.
@ISmokeEmWet@T_bleek@Blutman27 Chip was a “great coach”. Look at him now. UCLA football is cursed. Some schools just don’t have the football juju. It’s like saying Northwestern will be a football powerhouse if they get the right coach. Never. Might get one 10 win season once a decade (Mora) but that’s about it
@T_bleek@Blutman27 Thing is, I’ve seen this movie so many times. Everyone gets so hyped for the new coach “it’s all gonna be different now”. For the last 20 years and 5+ coaches i’ve heard the same thing and it’s never been different. So forgive me if I don’t believe it’ll be different this time.
@T_bleek@Blutman27 As I’ve said many times before, I’ll believe it when I see it. So far, haven’t seen it. Folks have made seemingly compelling arguments for most of the coaches I mentioned. To date, hindsight has proved those arguments null. We shall see, but 20 yrs of history is not in our favor.
@AdamBreneman81 Irrelevant. Dorell, Neu, Mora, Kelly, Foster… doesn’t matter who the coach is at UCLA, they have an ingrained culture of losing when it comes to football. Period. There is no will to win within the institution. Not a football school and never will be.
@BruinReport Same garbage program regardless of the coach (Dorell, Neu, Mora, Kelly, Foster…) all the same results more or less for two decades, still irrelevant. It’s the culture at ucla surrounding football. It’ll never change. Doesn’t matter who the coach is.
@T_bleek@Blutman27 Ah yes, JMU players gonna dominate in the BIG10 😂. An argument could’ve been made for all of those guys. Chip looked like such a huge get at the time, and was maybe the worst of the bunch in the end. UCLA is where football goes to die. Seen it first hand for the last 20 years.
@Blutman27 Or maybe it’s just a curse? I don’t know what the root cause is (type of player that comes here? Culture? Coaches that come here? All of the above? Idk) Regardless, unchangeable culture of mediocrity when it comes to football.
@Blutman27 Yes, yes. THIS time it will be different. Not like every other time we’ve started over the last 20 YEARS like when we hired Dorell, Neu, Mora, Kelly, Foster. Things will be different THIS time. Lol! 😂 Spoiler, it won’t. It’s a DEEEPLY ingrained culture at UCLA. Unchangable.
@latbbolch And we restart the cycle of false Hope. 😂 Dorell, Neu, Mora, Kelly, Foster, and all the interims. If anyone thinks a new coach changes anything in Westwood you haven’t been paying attention for the last 20 years. I’ll say it again… 20 YEARS. Lol. It’s a loser program. Period.
@5thDownCFB Its what UCLA does and will ALWAYS do. Watched nearly every game since ‘06. Seen multiple coaches and regimes… doesn’t matter. Same story regardless. Meltdowns in big moments. Always. Is it the type of player that goes there? The institutional culture? Both? Idk, but it IS ucla
