Week in Review: an afternoon drum circle & drum kit lesson, shooting hoops in the CPA, the musical stylings of Cowboy Will, and an inclusive class discussion on social media use. What a great first week with the Access ETSU program!
Super grateful to be back on campus this semester! We kicked our night off with a discuss about the best and worst classes we ever had. Among the “best” qualities- engagement, relationships, and communication! @ETSUCCOE
Special Educators: stop calling students you serve “my students.” It’s well intended, but it perpetuates division and exclusion. Students you serve belong to their general education classrooms and teachers, first and foremost. (Also, saying “my babies” doesn’t make it better. 😉)
Looking forward to participating in the 21 Day Antiracism in the Curriculum Challenge through the Center of Teaching Excellence at @etsu#ETSUAntiracistCurriculum
@davidjtimbs @jcityTNschools@Wes_Kieschnick I just pulled it off the bookshelf this week! I have a feeling it’s going to be more relevant than ever in the upcoming SY!
If there's ever a time that we need to focus on our students mental & emotional health, it is now. Think of everything they've endured already & its only June! Now is not the time to cut The Arts, PE, counselors! Congress needs to step up & support our schools, teachers & kids!
"Being asked to do something you're not skilled in, coping with worry about coronavirus, feeling they're not doing enough for kids and parents, plus their fears about next fall...is an amazing amount of stress.” Exhausted and Grieving: https://t.co/IGKvLWbHFO
There will be no high stakes testing this year, and yet all over America educators have continued to teach and inspire their students online. I hope the powers that be realize we do what we do because we love children and not because a test is held over our heads.
A great big thank you to my colleague Jamie McGhee who spoke to my Assessment & Programming class last night about early intervention, a critical and valuable program in our education system.
