Sit with the experience of the students in your class, how are we creating barriers and microagressions that perpetuate and make our students invisible? Be the teacher that SEES your students for who they are and the value they bring to the education. #Teachingequity. #TEC2018

I have seen so many students' lives improved because of the McNair program and the amazing mentors involved in keeping the program going. Please check out what you can do to support.

Nicely stated @dtkung
Also, a fun flashback of when I got a new knife and I sliced open my finger at my grandparents and dropped a f-bomb as I left room. I was in TROUBLE. Then the blood came and I was in less trouble but was told use other swears at Gps.
Memories- Thank you!
This month's Kung's Quarter on @maanow MathValues takes a break from policy and veers intensely personal. How are Taylor Swift, teenage swearing, Platonism, and the professional hazards of being a mathematician related?

No proposal or manuscript is ever perfect, but to be effective, it does eventually need to be finished.
Nothing we submit will ever be as good as it *could* be and just recognizing that can be an important step forward.
Perfection is not the goal. Finished is the goal.
fun PD activity today. We sat down and described our best teaching day- a day when our super teacher mode was activated. We passed that card to the right and the person next to us illustrated the description. The next pass used only the illustration to write a description … fun!
I especially appreciate the recommendation that as you start projects start work slow and deliberately to allow you to build up and finish the work strong.
Don't ask students to share a "Fun Fact" about themselves but instead ask them to share a "Boring Fact" 😃
I can tell you as someone who made the switch a few years back, it results in a ton more "fun" facts and whole lot less anxiety in your students 💜
Great for adults too 😎
