Cover crops doing their job at the @niabgroup NFS Rotations Trial at @Morleyfarms. Radish at growth stage 0.75 dog in plots receiving a full N dose in last season’s winter wheat, scavenging residual soil nitrogen. Just the 0.20 dog in plots receiving below optimal N last year

EAST: Quite an active cluster of thunderstorms over north Essex and into Hertfordshire, drifting west-northwestwards towards #Cambridge, #Luton and possibly #Bedford later. Tricky driving conditions on M11 between A11 and #Stansted, and A1(M) between #Stevenage and #Letchworth

Temperatures in the UK exceeded 35°C today for the 5th time this year (31st Jul, 7th Aug, 10th Aug, 11th Aug, 12th Aug).

This ties with 1976, which is the only other year on record with this many ≥35°C days 🥵
