FM Osman Saleh met UN Secretary General, Mr. Antonio Guterres yesterday and discussed matters of mutual interests and concern.
FM Osman referred to reckless provocations and expansionist ambitions cloaked in the name of "access to the sea" and re-iterated Eritrea's pronounced position that it will not be invited into such reckless agendas under any circumstances.
UNSG, Antonio Guterres, for his part, commended Eritrea's positive engagements in, and contributions to, regional peace and security, and reaffirmed the UN's strong commitment to the principles of territorial integrity, sovereignty and unity, of all nations.
Both sides hailed the strong partnership and cooperation that exists between Eritrea and the UN Country Team and expressed their determination to further strengthen this cooperation.
FM Osman Saleh also met Ms. Joyce Msuya, Assistant Secretary-General of the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA).
The discussions centered on the ongoing strategic collaboration between the GoE and the UN. Minister Osman commended the productive working relationship, which is aligned with Eritrea's national development policies anchored on vibrant local ownership and resilience.
ASG Msuya, for her part, expressed her profound appreciation for the strong partnership with the GOE and re-affirmed UNOCHA' s commitment, in spite of budgetary constraints, to working closely with Eritrea on critical areas, including climate change adaptation and resilience programs.
