@AstroRJS We've looked into exactly this: dithers aren't in exact same position; diff refraction. Near (real) compact sources small changes in DAR affect flux in fiber substantially, so repeat observation flagging can produce more artifacts than it solves when applied to entire survey.
@AstroRJS@MaNGASurvey Some kind of detector artifact certainly; the flux is spread quite evenly into the inter-fiber region in a manner inconsistent with light down a fiber. Too smooth to trigger the cosmic ray routine though. Possibly transient electronic issue, or tail of the CR distribution.
