@HoCStaffer Fire 2/3rds of the government and lower taxes.
Defunding the CBC is brainless. It's effective propaganda--something very much needed in repairing and reforming Canada. Getting rid of it will be a huge blunder.
@martianwyrdlord Good thread. Canada has only been a propositional nation for 40 years or so. Multiculturalism & the Charter both came out of the 1980s. Within living memory Canada was a culturally, ethnically coherent place rooted in tradition. That's worth remembering.
@PardyLarry@jenniferelle_ R. v Powley, 2003.
The court is not the sole arbiter of these matters either--a coherent, distinct Mรฉtis identity existed since at least the 18th c without judicial recognition, inclusion in the Charter etc.
@andrew17sc @DaglessMc Man come on. I love Canada but we're inferior in every meaningful metric. Migration between the two countries is 10:1 in favour of the US for a reason. We have serious problems that predate Trudeau by decades. Deferring to history doesn't change that.
@Harry__Faulkner We've been this way for ages. We should be decoupling from the US for national security reasons. Trump is extreme, but the US giving us orders is nothing new. Conservatives are just as much to blame for this as Liberals.
@visegrad24 He's mid. A career politician who's never had a real job. Things are so bad under Trudeau Poilievre will only need to make things 10% better and Canadians will be willing to settle. He's gonna continue the ongoing population replacement.
@dom_potwor@CrimCartier I imagine that's the case for every radical cause--although I have met plenty of natives who embrace land back, skamloops, decolonization, etc.
@CrimCartier@dom_potwor You're both right. The logical conclusion of Land Back is dispossession--insisting that's farfetched doesn't change that. But it won't happen bc then there'd be no one left to pay their entitlements. The long-term trend has been "Pay to Stay"
You don't follow FNMI affairs do you?
@IvisonJ Our political establishment has made us a protectorate of the US. Trump's tactic is extreme but the US bullying us is nothing new. The border is a problem--maybe now it'll be addressed. If we don't want the US to have power over us we should decouple. Perhaps you can fathom that?
@HartPPC If your method of reducing polarization is to cave to your opponent then you've lost.
Prime Ministers and heads of state for our currency, no one else.
Have some convictions.
