@Ljiljana1972 We´ve just published a volume containing a collection of essays from my course “How to talk about ‘nature’?” For me, it is a document of historical interest as a "time capsule" because the essays were written between 2020-22, just before emergence of GenAI.
@ProfSteveFuller The Spanish philosopher Antonio Escohotado wrote his General History of Drugs in eleven months while in prison in the 80s. Outside, he said, it would have taken him three or four years. He'd requested an isolation cell to boost productivity, and got it! ✍🏻☝🏻📈
We taught students how Western societies came to imagine nature as a pristine realm separate from humans; then unpacked its socio-historical aspects. Recognising wilderness is not just "out there", we asked them to reflect on own experiences of wilderness https://t.co/2y3lKm5QgB
Great turnout at The Ecological Bootprint Conference in Munich regarding the nexus of the military and the environment. Together with Tetiana G. (NAS Ukraine), I co-organized a session on hydraulic warfare in Ukraine.
It was a pleasure to organize and participate in the panel "Talking about rivers in Ukraine: from lessons and reflections to action" last week at #CafeKyiv in Berlin. Many Ukrainian rivers were represented in this session.
Thanks @KASonline & KIU (Viadrina European Uni).
🌊Tomorrow morning at #CaféKyiv in Berlin: A discussion about rivers in Ukraine during wartime and several community-led restoration projects in Kyiv Oblast, Kyiv City and Kharkiv Oblast.
@KASonline
@NAChristakis Thanks for the testimony, Prof. Christakis, as so many parts of it resonated with my experience there. I remember asking myself what I could even teach to those who have already experienced so much of the world. And yet, we´ll keep coming back, just as I am sure you will as well
@ProfSteveFuller As an undergrad in the 2000s, I remember the Habermas churches were intense in Spain, fueled by the optimism of Castells' info society.
@ProfSteveFuller This reminds me how STS was meant to unsettle paradigms, not to become one by branding its acronym and attach it to a particular scholarly identity.
Last week, discussing the "tricky" dialectics of peace and war with Issam (CCHP Bethlehem) and Manana (Blueshield🔷Georgia🇬🇪). Thanks organizers (The International Association of World Heritage Professionals e.V. + @DAAD_Germany).
@ProfSteveFuller That would be awesome. Thanks so much! Of course, I enjoy the YouTube talks, but the lectures have a particular rhythm that I very much value.
This long weekend in Kharkiv 🇺🇦, rethinking the present and future of mobility throughout the city. A special focus for me is the rivers 💦 and other waterways in Kharkiv, which some locals call the “second Venice of Europe.” #MobilityWeek 🇪🇺 @mobilityweek
1_ on the 11th of September, i'll have huge honor to be in conversation about "Ecocide in Ukraine" with amazing Monica Eppinger at the legendary independent bookstore @LeftBankBooks. If you have friends in #StLouis, pls share.
For those who'd like to join online...
An interesting way to dramatize the history of the social sciences is to imagine a bunch of students who stopped believing that the endless repetition of the history of philosophy constituted the sum of human experience.
