Inspired by @PaulHWhitePhD's Psy 2440 course @ U of Utah. RTs do not equal endorsement. Not speaking for the U. or any other group. Use at your own risk!
Thank you, Dr. Malik Starx! You do The Ancestors well & carry on the legacy of your parents. Great getting to meet you & glad we walked over for our lunch! Peace, and keep striving forward, shining the light for us to follow.

Got this from a student in an assignment.

Fall 2024 class has heard many of the ideas (e.g., conformity, groupthink, find good sources) raised in this interview from me, the textbook, or guest speakers (e.g., Dir & Asst. Dir of Utah Elections; Axios journalist; Dem & GOP Utah State House Reps).

4/4 when we had the honor of hosting Lt. Gov. Henderson (it was 61.22% eligible). In 2020, the numbers were the highest with 97.92%/95.92% voting rate with many talking about what happened in 2016, plus being eligible to vote for the first time, & the statewide mail-in ballots!
We have the percentage results from this semester's Voting paper. Students saying they were going to vote this year was 60.87% (eligible) & 57.14 (overall). The eligible number is the 2nd lowest since I started tracking in 2012 (32.65% in 2014) but close to last year's /1
3/ Shelly Jackson (Dep. Director of Elections) & Brooke Taylor (Elections Coordinator) from Lt. Gov. @DeidreHenderson's office for coming to class. Yes, we will need to have y'all come earlier in the semester next Fall! BTW, the overall number is higher than last year's (55.56%),
This does seem a bit deceptive & aimed at using certain folks' names without full permission. Maybe needs a special "label" to say which are "gifted" accounts. Good old fashioned balance theory type of approach (e.g., Heider, 1946) but risk backfiring.

This thread is not an endorsement of any political candidate or party. It is just a call for us to be more aware of what we read/hear in news, hallways, social media, etc.
When you are a hammer, everything is a nail. When a scientist, everything is something to discover.
Had a great morning with the PSY 2440 class at the U. I joined Utah director of elections Ryan Cowley to talk about vote by mail, election security, the pandemic of loneliness, and the importance of surrounding yourself with people who think differently than you.
I am concerned that we are swimming in a sea of bullshit on social media.
Alas, the attention economy does not reward accuracy and our reactions to bullshit often amplify it within newsfeed algorithms.
Good tips here. As students (& others) find out, I attempt to get folks thinking about these issues (e.g., language, using primary sources, realizing not everything is 50/50, honing critical thinking skills & not what to think but how, tie to real life).
