Today we interviewed a candidate for our college counselor position. I did not ask one question. Our panel of students led the way with their group questions and a mock 03 college advising session. Afterward, I listened in on their 10 min debrief. The STUDENTS chose their hire.
In my career, I have learned two mindsets from leadership. The first is the "take root where you are planted." That works for some, not all. The second mindset has been to understand when you must "Go to Grow." Our days are numbered, where will you make the most impact, and when?
Withholding feedback is choosing comfort over growth. Staying silent deprives people of the opportunity to learn.
